2015 release from the Chicago duo, their second collection of covers, includes covers of songs by Daft Punk, Lorde, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, George Harrison, REO Speedwagon and others. The series, which began with LOCAL H'S AWESOME MIX TAPE #1 in 2010, was inspired by a scene in the 1997 film BOOGIE NIGHTS, not by that blockbuster movie from summer 2014 that used a strikingly similar title and cover art for its soundtrack. With the exception of Lorde's "Team," which had its own EP release last summer, all songs on AWESOME MIX TAPE #2 are new studio recordings, produced by Andy Gerber. Local H have always peppered their live set lists with these and other covers. Their take on David Bowie's "Heroes" made its live debut at Local H's superhero-themed New Year's Eve show last year, while Muchacha's "Evelyn Mason" and Soulside's "God City" were audience favorites on the band's recent tour.
