Silat: A Perspective on the Malay Martial Art

I'm a new to silat and a poor Maphilindo Silat student. This book is an amazing gem. The rich illustrations provide context to the core stances, strikes and footwork for entering and weapons. For me the footwork patterns for tiga and basic langkahs were worth the price of the book. It is produced in high quality paper, with compelling images and well through out diagrams and illustrations.I would really like to see a series of these to help as instructional guides.

Love it. A great intro to the fighting art of Silat. I was hoping for more insight and technique specifically on the Burneian Bela Diri style. But none the less, still an amazing book on the basics and philosophy of the art. I found it to be the missing key to understanding the unarmed application of Filipino Martial Arts, as The Philippines was part of the Malayan Majapahit Empire in the past.
