No UFO, no Evangelion
After a few episodes it struck me that I was pretty much watching the inspiration for Neon Genesis Evangelion. Eva isn't a 1:1 copy but there are certain visual and situational themes that are so similar. And an internet search proved it to be the case.About the show, the episodes are incredibly engaging and quite varied in their various plots. The effects are stunning, be it the models real life sets and audio.Quite simply a must-have for sci-fi fans.

Great show and excellent DVD
With the Network Blu Ray's now going for rather high prices how does this compare? Although I haven't seen the Blu Ray version I can say this DVD remaster is still in my opinion an excellent quality picture. UFO is a classic piece of TV and although I only recall seeing the occasional episode as a child I have seen most of the episodes now and I think I appreciated it more now. Along with the first series of Space 1999 (which I have got on Blu Ray) I have to confess to enjoying these more than Thunderbirds (shock, horror!) which I have also recently watched every episode of. UFO in particular has a slightly dark side to some of the stories so on balance it was probably more for an older viewing audience. Frankly at the price this set costs it is incredible value for money!

A classic Sci-Fi series
This was one of my favourite TV series in my youth. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson were innovative in their craft. UFO had good plots, imagination and, given the age, some great special effects. The quality of the video isn't great on the DVD but I guess that is also part of the charm of reliving old TV programs. Fans of Sc-Fi should watch this. Highly recommended.

Back in the day
Amazing to watch these again and without adverts! So much better and have aged reasonably well, with the electric cars now a reality, more UFO reports these days, and so much undercover of news blackouts.... was telling us the future, thankfully computers have got a lot smarter and sound better than S.I.D. ever did. I am glad that we don't have to wear the costumes too!

8 disks 1235 minutes loads of extras great value - recommended
I remember watching this when I was about 12, I accept the problem was it was designed for an older audience, but shown early evening. I wasn't terribly impressed, but expecting the next production would be better, but after Space 1999 that was it. In retrospect it is better than I thought. Production was superior to anything else at the time science fiction wise and still holds up.The picture is very clear and bright, acting not great, but I think it's not been taken too seriously and everyone is just having a good time - Ed Bishop and Michael Billington were good friends, sadly dying within a week of each other. Michael Caine's wife is a little wooden - Benedict Cumberbatch mother Wanda Ventham is good and joins the fun getting in to a moon base outfit and wig - the fashion was by Syliva Anderson - and not a man before being called sexist. The disks are not in correct episode order and a few similar stories follow one another, worth checking out before watching. The first episode is dated in certain areas - but series settles down after that - everyone pretty well treated equal regardless of sex and race. More than you can say for most other programmes at the time and with no fuss.Plenty of extras including audio commentary on 2 episodes by Gerry Anderson and Ed Bishop.Thank you Gerry and Sylvia and your crew - your programmes will probably still be watched in 100 years time!
