Brilliant!
We have this for our little girl (5Y) she loves playing this. Gets really excited and proud of her achievements. She has always enjoyed learning but this has added to that for her being able to learn through play which is promoted in schools. We would highly recommend.

Early phonics - with an English accent!
There are plenty of phonics apps around but, of course, it is important that the correct phonemes and words are in play for the culture/language of the user. This app is suitable for speakers of English in an English environment. My background is in dyslexia support, mainly with older learners than the target group for this app. We are using this app as my wife, who has a masters in linguistics, has had a stroke and has lost many of her language skills. She has severe phonological problems. Thematically it is unsuited to her, being childish in its approach, but there is some useful phonics work in there that my wife can work with when she fancies. It is not a replacement for 'proper teaching' by the adaptable guidance of a professional, but it is a handy little tool to help with solo practice.Downloading the app was straightforward - though leads you to an outdated version, with a prompt to download a newer version if you like. We did this, and it left me with 2 programs, so I had to uninstall the older one. A bit clunky, then, but no big deal. The little figurine acts as a 'key' to open the app once it is installed. I guess this is to ensure only people that have bought the app can use it, as there are no subscription fees. We first found that a little lumpy to use - it took a few attempts to work, but it got there! Subsequent goes have been a little easier but still not exactly smooth. There is also a pen, in the same theme as the figurine, to use on the screen. It works well enough and is comfortable to hold, but my wife just uses her finger as it's easier. A child, though, might prefer the pen - and that is the target age group, after all. It's still early days in our use of the app. It certainly starts off very basic. I am hoping it progresses to auditory tasks, as the first few have all included being able to see the words and so risk descending into simple clerical/pattern-recognition exercises. It looks like there are a great many exercises to come, though, and I expect it to be pretty good.On current opinion, this is good and probably priced about right, given there is no subscription. For context, my wife has a therapy app for stroke survivors that costs about £150 per year. Gulp.Recommended, but I will return to comment in more detail when more of the app has been explored.
