Paradise Almost Lost
If anyone really wants to know what really happened in Puerto Rico, this is truly the book to read. Excellent book
I found this book to be very interesting. Every puertorrican should read it. A lot of puertorricans are blindfolded. I hope she can write another book to update about current PR situation.

must read
An excellent preview of what we are living through as of right now as Puerto Ricans on the island but also a snapshot of things we might've missed as we were too busy trying to survive.

Powerful
A tremendously poignant and important book for these times. Klein always hits hard and true in her reporting and does not miss a beat with this entry. She exposes the sheer greed and avarice at the heart of the disaster capitalists trying to invade Puerto Rico and steal it from the very people who live there.

Disaster Capitalism in Puerto Rico
My copy of Naomi Klein's book "Disaster Capitalism" has been highlighted to the max. Reading it first, puts this book into a greater perspective in understanding the basic blueprint of the actions.taken in Puerto Rico. If you happen to believe in theories explaining the technologies created to control how nature can be used to create those disasters; then the key to understanding how capitalists work will not be surprising. The predatory psychopaths have no concern for humanity or nature, they see a prize that once damaged can be taken with little expense and then they rebuild for tourism....resorts, restaurants, casinos and the people will come. It begins with the bankers and investors putting the property in financial crisis, then the natural disaster, and then the moving in while the crisis is in a state of "shock and awe". Sharks always show up when there is blood in the water. Sound familiar, read this book.

A report on Puerto Rico six months after Hurricane Maria
Invited to Puerto Rico, Naomi Klein spent a week touring the island in January 2018. She reports her findings here. Briefly, she found resilient communities in the interior surviving thanks to mutual cooperation and renewable power sources (wind and solar) while those on the southern coast, even those near conventional power plants, lacked electricity. She documents a recurring battle on the U.S. territory: the battle between forces defending the interests of local residents, and those working to reap maximum profits from turning it into a playground for the wealthy. Lately the latter have been joined by bitcoin entrepreneurs. The book was written in haste, and thus lacks the citations benefiting a work produced on a more sedate schedule. Nevertheless, it reports accurately, and the information it imparts is a vital contribution to understanding the situation in a Caribbean island for which America is responsible.

Good info but annoying writing style.
Good book but not a far of her writing style. I need facts and context but nothing more. Regardless, thank you for writing this.

In the aftermath of a natural disaster, relief to Puerto Rico was criminally inadequate. Disaster capitalists are investing to line their pockets while the residents of the island are without power, schools and hospitals.

The book is a short but very informative and precise summary of the history and the current struggle of Puerto Rico. Probably most of the information is not new to Puerto Ricans. Therefore, I definitely recommend it to all foreigners (especially “gringos”) so they understand the burdens of this country that come from colonization, exploitation, intentional mismanagement and privatization of public services. If you’re not from the island, read this book before you think of traveling, investing or living there.

Come al solito un libro illuminante da una scrittrice che ci si mette in prima persona in quello che scrive

It's actually a lot smaller than I expected, probably 8 inches by about 5 and a half inches but it is still a really good read. I found myself not able to put it down! Would definitely recommend!
