Fix For Sudden Slow SSD Read / Write Speed
I purchased a 1TB Samsung QVO SSD for my MacBook Pro A1278 Mid-2012. Computer was running smoothly for about a month or so, then one day after waking up my computer from sleep (as I never turn it off) I noticed I would get random slow downs for little-to-no processing activity. Ran disk utility, fresh OS install, nothing worked. Strangely enough when I plugged back in my 7200rpm HDD internally it ran BETTER than the SSD. I would also get no slowdown when I would plug the SSD to a USB enclosure and booted from there.Did some Apple Support forum searching, and found that the issue was either because TRIM was turned off, or the internal HDD cable went bad and cannot keep up the read & write speed of the new SSD. After enabling TRIM and no noticeable change, I purchased this as a last ditch effort before calling the SSD a lemon.Install took about 5 minutes. The included screwdrivers worked well. After connecting and booting I am back to normal! I wish I would have bought this before wiping my drive. The only reason why I didn't buy sooner was that I am diligent with HD backups, so I didn't lose anything for trying before buying.Definitely recommend purchasing and installing from the beginning if thinking of upgrading to SSD. With the cable being relatively inexpensive and easy to install, it's worth the swap while conducting the upgrade itself to avoid potential issues down the road.

Working perfectly
My brother's 13-inch mid-2012 MacBook Pro was exhibiting extremely long boot times, slow & failing file copying, and long periods of beach-balling. I was fortunate to have the same laptop myself to troubleshoot with. After swapping RAM, the hard drive, and the hard drive ribbon cable, I concluded that the cable was the problem. I later learned this is a fairly common issue with these MacBook Pros.I left my working ribbon cable in my brother's laptop so he could take it home. I then purchased this cable to replace the failing one. Although I didn't use them (I have my own took kit), this kit provides screw drivers and spudgers to access and replace the ribbon cable. I appreciate the reinforcement eyelets around the part where the ribbon cable bends and gets screwed to the motherboard. This bit of additional structure gives me better sense of protection around where the screws might have the potential to damage the cable. Replacing the cable only took only about ten minutes and is quite easy. My computer is back to being fully functional. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these cables.

Great Product, Great Price!
I thought my HDD died but later figured out its the cable. I didnt care bc i use my optical bay for an SSD, but decided to finally get this fixed so I can prolong my SSDs lifespan by not writing to it anymore. This product is great and they also include the tools to get the job done! One thing i really appreciated was that the tutorial i watched, the instructor will have you remove the small ribbon by the white piece and replace it, but by buying this product they already included a new part with that assembled already so that made made installation quicker and easier. I finally have 2 drives in my 2012 mbp again. Thanks!

This saved my MacBooks life
I bought a MacBook off craigslist on the cheap because he said it was slow. I was like, a new ssd should fix that. Well, after trying 5 different hard drives and none of them worked and doing research and coming to the conclusion that the SATA cable was most likely to blame, I decided to go with this one. Apple wants like $250 to replace this, which is.. Apple. But believe me, 30 min of your time and your MacBook will be good as new with this cable. It's nice that it comes with a new ir and standby light, and best thing, it comes with the tools. I was pleasantly surprised when I put the driver next to the screw and found them to be magnetic. So, I would say for the money, you are getting everything you need for a simple repair that will save you plenty of money, and it works perfectly.

Works well, just a tap cheap feeling.
I ordered this cable to repair my mid 2012 MacBook pro. The cables mounting holes felt like they may have been a tad off, but it mounted in fine. I would suggest swapping the HDD mount with the original one. The quality of the actual cable is good, plugged in without issue and fixed my MacBook. Included tools are of decent quality as well, unlike most included tools. Overall, it's a good quality part for the price.

Perfect Replacement. Everything fit!
Good product, easy install and saved my sanity. My MacBook started acting up during a recording session. Displaying tracks as empty or not there at all when they were. So I figured it was a good time to replace my hard drive with an SSD. I cloned the existing drive to an SSD and installed it. The laptop booted up but it was excruciatingly slow. I put the old drive back in and it booted up normally. So I tried it again with different cloning software, same result. Next I performed a clean install, same result. Looking for answers I read a post stating that a faulty SATA cable could cause this kind of issue so I replaced the cable and my new drive started working like an SSD should.

The right one!
Had ordered one by mistake that didn't have the bottom attachment. This one not only is the exact right one but came with some neat free tools! Computer working and happy one again. This is my second time replacing the same part (forget which one I bought last time), but this one is excellent and again I appreciate the tools
