Good quality album
As expected, it is a good quality coffee table book with a lot of text and images, mostly portraits. The cover alone is super attractive.

It's all good
The paintings are well-representative of Sargent's works and beautifully reproduced in this over-sized volume (9.3/34" by 11.5"). The book is divided into 5 sections, with an Introduction, Sargent in Paris and Beyond, Professional Success (in England and America), Beyond the Portrait Studio and a Chronology. It is well-written and informative. The typeface could have been larger, but that would have taken space from the 100-plus artworks, published in full color. Portraits, landscapes, and a few murals are included, both in oils and watercolors. All in all, a good book to round out your Sargent collection. An excellent companion would be "John Singer Sargent" edited by Elaine Kilmurray and Richard Ormond, which gives wonderful backgrounds on the paintings and how and why they came into being.

Beautiful glossy photos of Sargent’s paintings.
This book has beautiful glossy color photos of some of Sargent’s most famous paintings. It is well worth the purchase and makes a beautiful addition to an art lover’s library.

Beautiful
This is a great book. The paintings are well reproduced and there are a number of interesting period photographs of Sargent. The narrative is just enough with the primary focus on the paintings.

What a fascinating life story accompanied by his best works.
Not sure how you could read a biography (even this short one) without a collection of his important works, like this provides. My coffee table has a big smile. Such a unique artist with an amazing childhood (and adulthood) living all over Europe, studying with and becoming one of the greats.

Love It
I have had access to all the big 'Complete Works' that I can't afford. This is a very nice alternative that doesn't require a mortgage. A very nice selection of works and wonderful 'detail' views. The beautiful colours show JSS at his best. There is quite a bit of text, but it doesn't detract from the enjoyment and usefulness of the book to anyone hoping to learn from the pictures or just love art. A lovely book - BUY

A book of rare beauty, just like the work of the artist
John Singer-Sargent's talent and genius are brought together in this beautiful book, with exceptional reproductions of many of his seminal works, as well as precise and synthetic information concerning his biography and the aesthetic bases of his creative work. A book of rare beauty, just like the work of the artist to which he refers.

Stunning book
Beautiful and well presented book with a strong range of Sargent works, though I would have liked to see a few more watercolours and drawings. There was a problem with delivery however communication was great and issue was resolved
