TROPICA - Giant Bat Flower White (Tacca nevia white) - 10 Seeds

Worth knowing: This plant rarity from the dark gorges of the Nepalese rain forest produces brilliant, gigantic flowers, visibly bat wing-shaped, with 20-30 cm long dominating hairs hanging out of the flower like tentacles. An unbelievable pot and tub plant for partially shaded places.

Origin: The giant bat flower is indigenous to Nepal.

Propagation: The seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout the year. The tiny seeds do germinate quite slowly. A high temperature (22°-27°C) during the day and about 20°C during the night are ideal for germination. This works on a radiator or in a small heated greenhouse. Press the seeds into moist cultivation soil, cover thinly and keep evenly moist, however, not wet. Soaking the seeds will speed up the germination process, which nevertheless might take up to 3 months. Once a second leaf pair has grown, the seedlings can be pricked out.

Place / Light: Young plants love bright positions without direct sunlight. Temperatures between 20°-25°C are best.

Care: Water heavily during summer and spray the plant again and again. The ground may contain peat. The Tacca starts feeling at home from 18°C upwards. Do not fertilize young plants. Supply older specimens with tub plant fertilizer every 4 weeks from spring until autumn.

Winter period: Plants that have been moved on the terrace should be taken inside at 5°C. Overwintering is possible at temperatures between 5°-15°C, do, however, water very little then. The rhizomes will produce new shoots in spring.
