Tube style power bank with a faster than indicated charging speed
Note: The maker supplied a review sample for evaluation, the opinion of the product is my own personal viewIncluded with this lithium power bank is a flat style micro USB cable (length 30cm). Outer casing has a softer touch matt effect giving it a bit more grip and more appealing finish. At the top you'll notice an opening where you can attach it to a lanyard or use it as a keyring, it's quite solid with a thickness of 3mm.Single USB port on this one, that's normal for the capacity with larger power banks featuring more ports. The idea here is convenience and portability; lots of big power banks around that are not suited carrying in person (ie in a jacket or pocket). Rated to 3000mAh that's a bit above average for the size; at the moment I can't test actual capacity of power banks so I usually charge a device where I know the real capacity of the cells. In this case I charged a 3000mAh battery on a phone (it's slightly over that real world) and I got a 95% charge off of this. That's close enough for me (a variation of +/- 10% is acceptable)The good news is the headline 1.0 amp charging speed is closer to 1.25 amps with my current tester. That's a nice 25% boost in charging speed so don't be put off with the "normal charging" or lack of fast charging port. Actual charging speeds will vary bigger cells charge faster, smaller ones slower. For the test phone I used the best charging I have had is 1.45amps with a home smart USB charger, this is still quite fast overall. It took 2 hours 45 minutes to recharge the power bank. Not much to fault here this is a bit more expensive than some power banks, however the cell is an LG one (one of the top tier makers). I would usually avoid the super budget lithium cells because they don't hold up with recharge cycles and they often are well under their rating for capacity. Going for a high quality cell is the right move here.4 LED lights to indicate how much power is left in the battery. There is no test button on this (bit of a shame), it does show you how much charge is left when you have it plugged in (both charging the power bank or other items) which is all that's needed. Battery isn't removable (I did try!)I like the form factor on this it's small but has an above average capacity that's big enough to charge "most" smart phones. These are also useful for e-cig batteries and MP3 players, even a top up tablet charge. Simple but well made...recommended
