Solid antenna unit for local digital TV broadcasts
We have cable TV along with our Internet service, but there is one particular local digital channel that my wife loves that is not included with the cable channels. It is called TOON, and locally is on 25-3. The digital antenna that I tried to use was leftover from another project. It didn't provide a solid reception picture for that channel, so I started looking at more modern, more capable antennas and came across the Oyned AN-3040. It had great reviews on Amazon, and didn't cost a fortune, so I decided to give it a try. It was in stock at the local warehouse (having sold over 3000 units in the last month probably helped with that) and we received it the next morning. It came well packed in a solid, small cardboard box. The antenna appears solidly built, and is weather-sealed for indoor or outdoor use. Setting it up is trivial, as it has multiple mounting options, and the amplifier is easily attached and powered from a USB port on the large screen (65" Sony) flat panel TV. Standard coax for signal connection. Upon doing the channel scan, I discovered that it picked up several additional channels than the leftover one I had tried. After scanning, of course we went right to the TOON channel. The picture was bright and clear, and we waited with some concern that we would see pixellation. There was none, the picture was fantastic and has stayed that way, even through a fairly intense thunderstorm. I am very pleased with this unit, and if it continues to perform this well I would definitely recommend it. I live west of South Bend, Indiana, so we're not too far away from the local towers, but this antenna is pulling in some Chicago channels as well, which is pretty cool. I am thus far hard-pressed to find any faults with this unit. If I had to voice a concern, it would be that the antenna end of the coax cable is built-in on the unit. I understand why, it is to allow the unit to be sealed against the weather in the outdoors mode (we are using it indoors in a nearby window, there is a generous 35 feet of coax included and a barrel coupler in case you need to attach more). I do like to use shielded RG-6 cable for all of my coax, but the included cable seems to be performing just fine. Absolutely great picture quality, clarity, and brightness without any rebalancing for the signal. Based on the free standing performance, and the vast improvement over the previous antenna, I do recommend this unit highly for home use. We are happily watching the TOON channel and about 42 others. Full five stars with no reservation other than the integral cable on the antenna end.

Expanding My Options
The FN-3050 HDTV Antenna completely surpassed my expectations! After setting it up, my channel lineup jumped from just 27 to an incredible 113 channels—giving me access to a massive range of local programming, news, sports, entertainment, and more. The antenna was remarkably easy to install; all it took was a simple plug-in and running the auto-scan on my TV. Within minutes, I discovered dozens of new crisp, clear HD channels. Reception quality is impressive on both UHF and VHF bands, even in areas with challenging signal strength. I was surprised to see not just the major networks, but also loads of additional sub-channels and local content that I never knew were available in my area. The build is slim and lightweight, so it fits discreetly behind my TV or next to a window without being an eyesore. I also appreciate that the FN-3050 brought in channels some previous antennas simply couldn't reach. Overall, this antenna is a fantastic way to cut the cord and enjoy free OTA TV with incredible results. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unlock the true potential of their HDTV and expand their viewing.

Signal Deteriorates Over a Short Time
When I first got this antenna on 1/5/25, I set it up on the top of a 21-foot pole that I attached to the side of the house and pointed it in the direction of my closest local channels (using an online guide to show me what direction those stations were). I bought a brand new coaxial cable to connect it to my TV. I scanned my TV for channels and it said it found 500 channels. I was getting clear reception from all of my local channels, the farthest one away being less than 100 miles. It even found some channels I thought were only available on cable or satellite. "Great!", I thought. I watched the Super Bowl on my local FOX channel and some programs on channels that I had watched on my previous satellite subscription. Later, I found out that 450 of the channels it found were already preprogrammed into my TV. I didn't need the antenna to watch those. So now I'm down to 50 or so "local" channels. It seemed to me that with a claimed range of 1200 miles and with my location being in a long valley in between major metro areas, that it should have been picking up some of the local channels from farther away than it was. At that time, I didn't care because I was able to watch all of the four major network channels. BUT then last Sunday I went to watch an important sports game on the channel that was less than 100 miles away that I had been watching before. Lo and behold, there was no signal. The channel was still on the list, but all I got on the screen was a "No Signal" message. Naturally, I was angry. I did a rescan of channels on my TV. When the new list came up, not only was that channel missing, now I had fewer channels than the first time. It seems odd to me that a product would work so well at first, then so poorly a few days or weeks later (also, when it first started working, I was getting a clear, uninterrupted signal; days later, the programs started momentarily freezing, which was very frustrating). It's past the return window now, so I'm out the money I paid for it. I'm probably going to throw it away and get a more reliable antenna.

Que así se llama la antena TV 1200 millas, pero para los canales locales es muy buena antena y nada más.
