is there an expiration date on the package?

Thank you for your question. On our packages made within the last year they will have a stamped expiration date on the gold foil pouch inside the box. The Gold Seal pouch SeaBear smoked salmon comes packaged in is like a "flexible can" - as long as it is not opened, punctured or leaking, it will stay good for many years (just like a can). The product will be good for at least four years, and even that is conservative. On packages that we produced over a year ago have code on them to determine when they were made. To find when a pouch of SeaBear smoked salmon was produced, look for the code on the pouch. For example, here is how you would read a code of 6470011SK: The "64" Our F.D.A. issued plant number The "7" The last digit of the year it was produced (2007) The "001" The Julian date. 001 = 1st of January The "1" Number of retort cook done that day (1st cook of the day) The "SK" Species of fish (sockeye) If you need assistance with determining when your product was produced please call us at 1-800-645-3474 and we would be happy to help.

This particular product was consumed a long time ago. However, I currently have 2 Sea Bear products on hand, 0 sugar, o carbs. That spec is important to me, so I doubt I would have ordered anything with sugar. I'd say no sugar....
