Making the big stuff
Zometool is a great educational toy.Yeah, right! Like that is why I got it.Look, it is a lot of fun to make cool geometric stuff and then take it apart and do something else with it. Zometool makes it easy because it has a limited number of different parts that go together in limited ways, but ultimately you can do some fairly complicated stuff with them. The Creator 3 set has plenty of parts to make it possible to do amazing things without having paid an amazing price. The only complaint is that the box it comes in isn't perfect. On the other hand, I can't come up with anything better and it does keep everything in one spot and handy to work on.So, seriously, I got it for the fun of it and I am glad that I did.It has a lot of small, attractive parts, so keep it away from children who put things in their mouths. Most 6-year-olds could do some of the simplest projects with help, but I think that most kids will need to be older (8 or older) to enjoy it. Middle school and high school kids will enjoy making some of the most complicated structures.

Pieces break. Feels and costs comperable to durability and engineering of legos, but isn't.
I was surprised to see how many of the little end knobs snapped off after just one year of use. If I were to guestimate, I'd say 15-20 pieces. My kids are 6 & 9, but I never saw mis-use, and I don't know how the little knobs would break off from mis-use. A few snapped off and are stuck in the spheres. It's a cool product and may serve a specific purpose for you, so it may be worth 4 stars. It was something 'different' for my kids to play with. Has gotten a lot of use so far. So, I'm not sure I 'regret' buying it, but for the price point.. meh.

Great gift for kids who like to build stuff
I bought this for my 10-year old grandson's birthday. He loves it so much that when I asked him what he wanted for Chanukah, he said he wanted another set so he could build even larger items and not tear down previous creations to do that. So, I've bought two! P. S. He's a little engineer and LOVES to build stuff.

Small pieces so not recommended for children under 5.
I bought this for my son who built a geodesic dome for his science project. It turned out really amazing and his teacher was very impressed. Somehow the kids figure out how all the pieces go together to make something. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone who likes to build things.

Two Stars
My kids are not getting as much use out of this as I had hoped.

Great Toy! It is entertaining and has lots of educational concepts within.
I want another kit! This kit was not enough to build all the things that come to my head when I use it. I wish there were different colors of pieces because yellow, red and blue all the time is boring, yet this toy has a lot of educational concepts within. You can even create decorative stuff for your place!

Bought for a kiddo, enjoyed by all!
I bought Zometool for my 7 yo son because we were beginning an exploration of geometry, symmetry, and chemistry. We've explored that, and a whole lot more! Sometimes the whole family just sits around and....creates! Towers, rocket ships, domes, launch pads, neat shapes....whatever!Minor issue with the ends of the rods breaking, but the documentation DOES warn you that you need to take care when disassembling your creations. Just be careful and you won't have too many issues.

Expensive and not fully capable.....
I bought this with the hopes of making platonic solids and, inspired by Buckminster fuller, the tetrahedron grid (isotropic vector Matrix) and octet truss. Little did I know, this kit does not even have the capabilities of making a simple Tetrahedron or Octahedron! 100 dollars for a bunch of plastic seems a bit steep to me, although the design complexity is rather impressive so I felt a little bit better supporting the geniuses that figured this out. The instruction manual is a bit lacking, it really doesn't give much inspiration to me, and I am sure kids would not find it comprehensive or inspiring. Overall, I feel like the super intelligent people who designed this should have put more thought into making an expensive plastic kit a bit more educational and a lot more capable without having to buy more expensive expansions. If you want to make tetrahedrons and octahedrons, you will have to buy the green lines kit along with this one. I am considering returning my creator 3 kit. I hope this helps. Blessings~
