Best AC unit I've ever used, gets COLD, VERY FAST
Best air conditioner I've ever owned. Had never heard of this brand, but the very uncommon high percentage of good reviews, and the fair price, led me to try this model out. Over the last 21 years, I've owned 7 air conditioners. Two were window units and 5 were portable units with exhaust hose. Until I got this Dreo unit just over 3 months ago of a HOT summer, the window units I had were traditionally always more effective at cooling a room than the portable units. Heck, 3 of the 5 portable units I owned didn't even produce cool air after less than a couple weeks of use. And prior to the Dreo, the other one I owned made it thru 3 summers, but didn't get all that cold, despite being a 10k BTU unit and the Dreo I got is only 8k BTU. But it gets COLD, and VERY fast. This 8k BTU Dreo portable unit puts out colder air than all 6 of the previous AC units I've owned. And those used more power too, 10k BTU each. The "swing" feature is also VERY effective at wafting the cold air all over the room, without need of a separate fan to move it all around. Very, very effective unit. The Android app is great; easier to use than the remote control, especially in the dark. I also like how you can turn off the unit's display completely, and the chime sound, to maje it easier to sleep. And the "sleep" setting is actually to make the compressor quieter and turn off and on again less frequently, making it easier to sleep thru.

Definitely recommend!
Granted we've only had it a day now so who knows how it'll stand the test of time but so far it's excellent. It was significantly smaller & lighter than the one it was replacing so I was initially worried it wouldn't cool as well. This was definitely not the case, it cooled out room quickly & well. It's well made & looks nice. It was very straightforward to get set up, probably the least hassle out of any we've owned. There is a remote for it, & the app is awesome. It was super easy to pair to the app- it pretty much did everything itself- & you can do/view pretty much anything from the app. The app also has the user manual & maintenance on it, which is a blessing for people like me that lose literally everything. Works great, very impressed. Hopefully it stays that way. So far would definitely recommend.

Buy this-dont waste you money on other mediocre products
Buy this--Dont waste your money on any other air conditioners- this is better than any window air conditioner, portable air conditioner and even beats split acs or heat pumps if you are to think of how much much it costs to get a heat pump installed for the whole house. I have had this portable air conditioner since April this year. The evaportator functions works as advertised. It is easy to install, has wheels, cools the room and surrrounding rooms excellently. It is less noisy than a portable air conditioner. The noise level is good and doesnt bother when I am sleeping but most nights I end up turning it off before I go to bed as the room is already cool from running it for a few hours in the evening. The air conditioner is well-built, I love the quality. The remote has its own spot where it magnetically attaches to the air conditioner. I can control the air conditioner through my phone and through my voice on Alexa, what more can I ask for, I love it. I wasted hundreds on other window air conditioners and nonsense fans and air coolers, dont waste your money. Buy this and you will not regrest your purchase, I am one happy customer.

Works for small rooms
I live in an old house with no ac and summers over 100 degrees. I finally broke down and bought the ac unit. It works well for the small space of my bedroom. The app is easy and convenient to use. There is also the option of a remote. I gave it four stars only because it’s loud when it “switches gears” (I have no clue what its actually doing but it makes a clunk sound when it is trying to maintain a temp once it’s reached). The tube that connects to the window also doesn’t fully click into place and it has fallen off the windows multiple times. Other than that, it definitely keeps my room cool!

I'm pretty impressed with this AC! I have 4 portable AC units total in an older 2 bedroom apartment: a Danby and a Hovato in the main area, and a Tosot in the main bedroom, with this taking up residence in the office/2nd bedroom. The insulation isn't great so it's typically only a few degrees off from outside temps, especially in summer (what can I say, it's otherwise decent and absurdly cheap!). So each room has it's own AC, with the living/dining/kitchen area being large enough to need 2. As mentioned the Dreo lives in my home office and doesn't take long to cool the room, it seems to be more powerful than any of the others. It is quite quiet too, so I can keep it on low fan or low + cool during calls without too much noise. None of the other 3 would be able to do that. This outperforms all of the others, and though I'd love to move it to one of the larger rooms the noise trade-off isn't worth it. One thing to note is that the window kit would not accommodate a sliding door, only a window-sized opening. So far the only machine to come with enough panels for a door-sized opening is the Danby we have. The rest you would need to order additional proprietary panels. I don't love that. Wish they would just throw in the extra one. This is also the only one to have advanced features like the app that the others don't have. Easy to use and quick to respond as well, which is a bit rare for apps it seems. It also has a filter cleaning reminder, though it's based on hours run only, so not indicatave of how dirty the filter actually is. In a house with just two adults, no kids nor pets it usually goes for 2-300 hours without needing cleaning, far above the 100 hour default reminder. Overall this is a pretty killer machine, with advanced features, very powerful cooling, and very quiet to top it off. Well worth it, though it seems to be unavailable at this time. Still they have similar models that you can look to. Overall recommended!

My old AC is similar, also 14 000 BTU but 10-15 years older. This is like night and day, it cools way better and half as loud. It is actually pretty quiet, not that much more than a fan. When the cooling start you can hear the compressor start but it's not much more loud. The fan from low to high makes more of a noise difference than the cooling itself. I used it in the last heatwave and it worked pretty well, always comfortable even when it was so hot it was not able to keep the temperature as low as asked but I don't think any portable AC could. One thing this AC has that other don't always have is the automatic oscillation up and down, it helps a lot to cool a room because the air is circulating more and it's not always going straight in the same direction. Another thing I like is that the panels included are pretty tall, I have one tall window and usually panels are not long enough but this one provide one more panel than usual. Good to note that the panels have a weird shape ( included in my pictures. ) so they won't be compatible with other kits available online, if you ever need to replace one panel or want to extend it. The panel and hose being black make it seems less cheap but that also make it way harder to find matching panel. Another minor thing I like is the magnetic remote you can simply leave on the AC. I always had to add velcro or something to hold the remote on my previous AC but this one has this fixed and it looks nice. I did not remove any stars, because it's not something I needed, but I was not able to test the app. Like too many appliances still, it is wifi 2.4ghz only and my router use the same SSID for 2.4ghz and 5ghz which confuse them.

I was not expecting this air conditioner to be so well made or that it was as big as it was. I was pleasantly surprised when I unboxed the air conditioner as it is more heavy duty than expected. Right out of the box I noticed that it was really nice sleek black with casters for easy transport around the house. It has some good heft to it do you may need help getting it upstairs if your not able to lift it. It dies roll easily across the floor so it can be moved. The machine was really easy to set up and comes either an adjustable window slider to attach the hose for venting hot air. I have never seen one like this and it was really easy to use and set up. I think other manufacturers should take a tip from this company on how to make it easier for homeowners to install in the window. I have a sliding window so it was easy but it also has solutions for other window types. The only type it doesn’t accommodate is the roll out window but I haven’t found a company that does. If you need a solution put the slider along the side that closes once snug get practised cut a hole for the hose and put the plastic along securing it with tape on the window for a short time. That’s what I have done in the past for the roll out windows when I did have them. The air conditioner has a cool mode, 3 speed fan mode with oscallation, and a dry mode. The air conditioner has a drain free system so there is no need for hoses and buckets to catch condensation or make a mess. If the humidity is high there is a chance that it won’t be able to be drain free but, that’s a really humid house so idk if most people would need to worry about that. The system has smart cooling which means it can be controlled remotely by app, or you can use voice assistant it is compatible with Amazon Alexa or Google Home. The app that the AC uses is called the Dreo App which allows you to operate the AC fan speeds, timers and schedules so I really like that aspect. It will cool around 200 square feet so not too shabby. Enough to keep the family cool on a level if it’s a townhouse or a room if it’s a bigger house. Either way it’s enough to cool you down in a hot day. The function is good and the read out in the unit is big so I can see it easily. I tested the AC but not for long since it’s winter here now but, I let it run through a cycle and it cooled the room very well. This seems like a great unit. Really love that it’s drain free and has the easy hose installation kit. Be aware it’s 28.5kgs or 62lbs so don’t hurt yourself lifting it.

- Big and bulky, which is to be expected from an air conditioner. That is why the caster wheels that come with the unit are super useful to move the unit around the apartment, from one room to another as needed. - The overall look is futuristic and looks like a piece of technology from years into the future. Does not look boring like the other portable air conditioners I have used in the past. - The sleek smooth curved body looks great. - The large LED display on the front gives all the necessary information and details. - There are several touch buttons on the front to control fan speed, temperature, sleep timer, etc. They are very responsive to the touch and I have not seen any noticeable lag. - I love the top opening design of the vent. That allows cool air to be thrown up towards the ceiling first before that cool, heavy air falls towards the floor. This is a nice design and helps keep upper areas of the room cool right from the beginning instead of starting with the floor like other air conditioners do. The vennt also sends air out swinging from side to side, and I love that design idea. - This one is definitely one of the more quieter air conditioners I have ever used. Not too loud. You can still hear it working but it does not disturb your concentration and after a while you stop hearing it when your ears/brain gets used to it. I like that quiet design. - The best part about this unit is that it is "smart" and connects to Google Home or Alexa. There is also the manufacturer's app to allow for several different controls through the phone, but I usually control the unit through my Google Home. It works fine and I have not had to use the manufacturer's app too much. I only use that app occasionally. - All in all, this is a beautiful looking, smart home compatible, silent, sleek, modern looking portable air conditioner that can be moved around in the house as needed. I love the performance so far.

Right out of the box, it has the appearance of a very modern piece of technology. And that observation would be correct! I just can't get over the visual difference from those old, heavy white appliances I would hang out of a window, and pray it did not somehow pop out and injury someone! And the noise! Those old babies would really rock the entire window frame! Well, no more... Dreo is a new name for me, and so far, I am very impressed with them. As mentioned above, the design elements on the exterior alone, are beautiful. And the small details impressed me just as much as the operation. For example, a magnetic area strip on the top rear, that holds the remote control. Or how about the LCDI 3-prong plug that will shut down power immediately if a current leakage is detected. Or what about the air filters that can be user-cleaned, and without having to use some special cleaner... These are just three examples of the making of a superior appliance that this company is doing. Depending on the rating system you want to use, this unit is either a 12K Btu/h (ASHRAE128) or a 7K Btu/h (SACC) cooling capacity. A six (6) foot 15AWG electrical cable exits at the rear of the machine, and end with that impressive safety plug, ready to go into any wall outlet. As you plug the unit in, a green LED lights up, telling you that power is being supplied. I love that! The front of the air conditioner rather looks like it might have taken some design cues from some of the high end automobiles of today. The shiny black body is highlighted with two large carbon fibre louvers, surrounded by a grey, metal-flake trim ring. The sides are a medium, deep grey and on each side, a hand insert mounded into the plastic. Returning to the front again, you are presented with a large 3 1/2" circle, that is the display. It is bright, crisp and colourful! By far, the largest piece of information is the centre two digit number that shows you the temperature. Other indicators surround the centre numbers, and around the entire display, a beautiful, soft blue. Running the fan produces a rush of air, at a surprising low volume of noise. This is a very quite air conditioner! Plugged in and ready to go, the unit sits there with those two big carbon fibre louvers closed. Touch the "On" button, the display lights up, and the two louvers rise up, almost silently. One completely open, the fan kicks on. Much the "On" button a second time, the display instantly shows the number "12", and starts a countdown timer to zero. During this time, the fan reduces in speed and once the fan stops, the louvers return to their closed position. The operation is wonderful - quiet, no rattles or shakes, strong fan, and again, the look of a very high tech machine. The remote control has access to all the air conditioners functions. Touching any button, will light up the display for about eight (8) seconds, and then return to a common black letters and numbers on a grey/green background. The buttons on the remote are also luminous to a degree. The remote is nice, and you also have the option of downloading an app, that will also control the unit. I rather like the "Sleep" mode, that reduces the fan to low, and shuts down the front display on the unit. I should also mention the manual. It is an excellent example of how a manual should be laid out. There are eight (8) different chapters, each clearly defined. Illustrations are clear and easy to understand. A lot of thought went into the layout of this piece and it shows. I am impressed that a company would take the extra time, care and expense to create a decent manual for once! As I am writing this in Southern Ontario, it is January - the coldest month. Not the best time to test the unit! I will update this as soon as the weather permits, but to date, testing the fan speeds, the controls, the easy of functions, this unit is at the top of its class! With an easy QR scan, the warranty extends to 30 months (!), a very generous bonus. Bottom Line - A beautiful unit! Actual cooling capacity not withstanding, this unit is loaded with features. It is pretty heavy, and yet glides easily with four swivel casters hidden underneath. One safety note, I will never again, ever, hang an air conditioner unit out a window. This modern design is the only way to go!
