UF Pro Striker Gen 3 Boonie Hat - Military Tactical Brim Hat, Sun Cap for Men Hunting Fishing Outdoor Camping

I've known of UF Pro's products for a number of years now, and I can say I've never been disappointed in their product lines for people involved in every facet of tactical type environments. End users have first hand knowledge of what works and what doesn't when it comes to keeping cool in the Amazonian like jungle heat, on the ocean in a boat where there's little shade, or in a hide waiting to ensnare a future meal in their sights. So when this company came out with a style of boonie hat almost identical to how I modified mine many years ago to keep me cooler in the summer, I jumped in with both feet like a paratrooper in heat! It came in and I immediately threw it on and experienced several nostalgic memories I'd made in my youth. Not only was this boonie very affordable, especially for someone on a very tight budget, (who isn't these days!?) but comfort, color availability, and fit were spot on! Living in the southeast United States, summers can get brutal with humidity driving up the 'feels like' temperatures, and add in the occasional trip east into Texas or Arizona dry heat along the border, this hat excelled in keeping the sun and sweat out of my eyes! Venting was added in all the right places for relevant air flow over the head, as well as loop fabric for identifying patches where needed. A stiff wire added to the front and rear brims adds an even better adaptability in configuring for rain water run off or throwing off the human shape element of blending camouflage. Overall a great piece of kit!

Definitely runs small... I ordered the 2XL, per previous reviews, and glad I did! It fits perfect. My true size is 7 5/8. Rides a little higher on the head than anticipated, but probably contributes to the very light and airish feel. Sculpting wire in the brim, is the solution to a problem I never knew I had. Love it! It's only in the front and back. Chin/head strap is versatile, effective, and we'll made. Good looking and feeling hat. Will see how it holds up, but I expect to be coming back for replacements and/or additional colors.

I have a relatively large head, so I purchased size 7 3/4 hats in the past. however, UF Pro uses Small - XXL sizing based on inches of head circumference. I ordered the XX Large, which turns out to fit great.The construction appears to be durable, though I mainly wear it when I'm doing outdoor work on the house or yard. I'm not in the military and am not regularly camping or hunting, so I don't put it to extreme use, which might speed up the wear-and-tear. The wire in the brim works to alter and hold the shape to ensure I can see optimally while also blocking the sun. The mesh on the front and back allows for decent airflow, which is valuable to me in hot weather.I've had a few boonie hats over the years and liked all of them. This UF Pro version is probably my favorite, and I imagine it'll last a long time based on how I use it.

If you're grown. Get XL or XXL. Large fits my 8 year old nephew. I hope he enjoys his new $50 hat. I guess that's on me though. Nicely made product.

The best boonie hat made, wish it was made in USA! Runs a little small, so average person probably needs an XL.

Have been wearing boonie hats forever. Have 6 maybe, including OR sombrero in Gore Tex which is awesome when it rains.I run hot and usually have to take off boonie to let out heat and wipe off sweat. Wanted a Slangvel (sp?) but don’t do social media.Saw a video on the toob and thought I’d give this one a shot. Heeded advice and ordered a size up. Got an XL. Usually wear 7 1/2 to 5/8 depending on brand. I prefer a slightly loose fit.The XL is just about perfect sizing on my melon. The vent panels release heat pretty well, and if it’s breezy can feel a little flow through.Wish the top was a little bit deeper though as it sits on my head firmly when pulled down to shade the eyes. With a bit more space the ventilation would be better.I like it and recommend it. Still go to the Gore Tex OR for rain/snow though.

Great hat! Well designed and the mesh cooling panels are a nice touch. Fabric is very comfortable, like your favorite old broken-in hat. Can’t fault the quality at all but the price is a bit high.

Awesome boonie! After reading the reviews that the hat runs small, I opted to go one sizer bigger (2XL) and I’m glad I did. I use this for my hikes and I must say, this hat is lightweight, breathable, and stylish!
