COSTA RICA COFFEE PODS, Good As Gold Coffee Roasters, (18ct Coffee Pods)

Our family loves this coffee!! The quality is outstanding. So smooth, flavorful and versatile for a variety of coffee drinks.

This is a reorder of the Costa Rican Blend. It is a favorite for over a year now. The pods are so convenient and the quality is consistent.

I drink a variety of coffee, mostly medium to dark roasts. While in Costa Rica on business, I fell in love with the local Tarrazu coffee. I visited coffee plantations and drank a variety of locally grown and roasted coffees in the region. By far it's my favorite coffee. After running out of the suitcase full I brought home, I've been trying to find comparable roasts from Costa Rica Tarrazu beans. However I've not found the perfect roast & flavor profile nor freshness from what I bought home from Costa Rica.The Good As Gold Tarrazu coffee is realistically medium roast. It can't be called dark roast unless you turn out the lights. The flavor profile is mild and balanced, unmistakably Costa Rican beans, but it's lacking in deep flavor. (The bag I received was among the last of the inventory, since currently out of stock after my order.) If the manufacturer roasted indeed darker, the flavor intensify would be more robust with deeper chocolate & nutty notes. That's what I learned from the plantation visits. I also learned each batch can have some slight nuances and some producers blend for consistency. But the bag I got is lacking something due to the roasting and or time on the shelf.

I use these in my espresso machine rather than a Senseo machine. The pod contains the right amount of coffee for a classic 6 oz. Cup but you could push it to 8 oz. If you don't like your coffee too strong. At the same time as I ordered this I ordered Keurig pods with Costa Rican coffee for rush mornings where I want bigger cups, but they were disappointing with barely enough coffee for a mild 8 oz. Cup instead of the 10 or 12 oz that I expect from the Keurig.The beauty of using this type of pod in an espresso machine is that you don't have to tamp and there's no loose grounds to clean of the counter.Coffee from Senseo type pods is generally very good and these pods are no exception with a rich flavor that is not at all bitter.

I have this on subscribe and save because it's the best.

Disappointed in this bean. I have bought this type of coffee beans for more than 10 years. Has been difficult to find Costa Rican beans lately. Not sure why. These taste very similar to something you would buy at Starbucks. Bitter and almost burnt taste
