We All Live Here: A Novel

Another great book from JoJo Moyes!
I am a fan of this author, having read Someone Else’s Shoes and enjoying it, so I began this book expecting to like it, and I did! It follows the lives of Lila, her daughters, and an entire cast of supporting characters. And told from different viewpoints, which is a format I like. The ups and downs of life post divorce, life with teens, work, extended family, limited finances, and told with humor and compassion.

A fun read
I enjoyed the characters and plot of the story. It was funny and kept my attention. The novel has a comfortable atmosphere of a home and modern family.

Hard to imagine a book better than this
I went in with no expectations. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by this author, but was recommended by someone in a book group I’m in. Knew from the first page that this story would suck me in. Partially because I had this experience, my Dad left our family for another, my Mom was very like Lila, mad, hurt, humiliated. Then she met her Jensen, and was really happy for the rest of her life. I loved this book. The story was great, and the writing was really good. My only complaint is that I would like to know what Lila wrote next…

Almost a 4
It was a lovely book about a crazy family. A nice read but nothing extraordinary. Not sure what else I can say.

Great characters & relatable story
The storyline interested me as relatable with the taking care of young children and elderly parents and the messiness of divorce. I wanted to smack the main character a few times but she righted herself classily enough. I love how Moyes developed her characters and while the book wasn’t always enjoyable (as parts were heartbreaking, sad or uncomfortable) I still was able to lose myself in the story and I loved how she ended it. I feel like a better person for having read it.I haven’t read all of the books Moyes has written but I’m comfortable enough with her track record to say that I eventually will. She’s a great dependable writer for the story & characters that you can escape with into their world.

American girl
This book I stumbled upon, first time reading a Moyes book. It was a well written, easy, fun read. The story takes place in Britain, so some of the slang I had to look up. The part about cups of squash at a school event had me scratching my head! All I could picture were children eating squash, after a little research I found out that it’s fruit juice 😁 There are many other little differences that I was able to figure out, but the squash made me laugh out loud 🤣

Jojo does it again!
I love the way Jojo writes. I feel like I am in the room, experiencing and seeing all that is going on. I can relate to Lila’s struggles and heartache and just wanting to feel good again. Then to get hurt again and again. Then looking at herself and seeing she just did the same thing! It’s all so confusing! And a woman has to be so strong through it all! And forgiving. At one point I couldn’t read through my tears. I can’t wait until your next book!,

Heartfelt Story
This book is long and at times slow moving but the overall story is really good. The plot centers around a divorced single mom’s journey raising two girls by herself while navigating a high pressure writing career, her ex and dating problems all while living with two fathers who don’t get along. The characters were great (especially Gene) and it ended with an important message about forgiveness and choosing to move forward in order to find peace, a comforting read.
