Extremely satisfying upgrade once you work out the quirks
Bottom line upfront: this is a really neat piece of equipment, and once you have spent some time configuring the new head unit and working out the kinks, it is a huge upgrade from the stock head unit. The biggest issue is that it's a relatively easy install, it's just not a *simple* install because of the extremely limited working space and having to bundle a large amount of new cables behind the old head unit. If you have some patience and persistence, it took me roughly 2 hours to get everything disassembled, tested, and then neatly reassembled. I retrofitted this to my 2015 528i xDrive with an original "NBT" unit. The package did not contain any installation instructions but did contain all of the necessary components. After installation I have been left with a spare 3.5 mm male-to-male aux cable but as far as I can tell, it is not necessary for full functionality. I initially contacted the seller company and they sent some images with wiring diagrams and the disassembly layout of the screws etc. on the car. However, the instructions were for another of their head units and thus slightly different. In the end, I ended up watching the BimmerTech "CarPlay MMI Prime Retrofit in BMW F10 - Installation Tutorial" video on YouTube for a slightly different product. You can essentially follow most of that guide for disassembly and transferring the green fibre optic cables from the original head unit to the passthrough harness for this unit. Once you've done that, you'll just need to detach the two screws and clips holding the old screen and replace it with the new one, ensuring you reattach the pink LDVS cable and white power cable to the new screen. Before securing the screen in place, I also suggest attaching all of the peripheral cables (4G, SIM slot, USB, mic, GPS antenna) and making sure you can efficiently route all of the wires. I routed the mic cable on the underside of the trim on the driver side (where the man in the BimmerTech video routes the USB cable) and then the two USB cables on the passenger side lower trim. It is a tight squeeze to get the console to go back on snugly and I was slightly concerned about all the extra pressure on the fibre cables and harness. However, it all worked fine in the end. On initially starting up the new head unit there were some strange glitches e.g. the original iDrive map audio guidance started automatically multiple times and when switching between the iDrive and Android Auto, the audio on Spotify would cut out after a few seconds. However, after configuring the screen settings for the old iDrive unit (as mentioned by the other reviewer) leading to a couple of reboots and spending some time setting up everything else, it seems to have stabilised now. The 20-plus EQ channel is actually really solid, as are the other audio effect settings. It connects almost immediately to my Samsung S24+ and the touchscreen on maps/Spotify are very responsive. It also quickly switches to the original backup camera and parking sensors when in reverse (again, make sure you select this camera input in the settings). You do retain all of the old iDrive features, including steering wheel control. The only quirk is that I'm fairly certain you have to select the "Aux front" sound input in the original iDrive system for the sound to pass through, so when you use the steering wheel scroll wheel to change track, the HUD says "this feature is unavailable in Aux mode" but the track does still skip forward/backward in Spotify when in Android Auto. You can also re-customise all of the steering wheel buttons to whatever function you need, and the old iDrive scroll wheel/buttons in the centre console do still work as expected. I don't plan to use it for its standalone map/wifi/mobile phone capabilities as I was more interested in the Android Auto functionality, so I can't speak to the experience with that. Ultimately, after some initial struggles, everything now appears to work almost flawlessly and the HD screen itself looks stunning. You would barely know the car is approaching 10 years old given how modern the interior still looks. Overall, I'm very happy with this upgrade, and glad I went for the slightly more expensive version from this brand, it really is worth it in my opinion.

Great upgrade and great product.
Great product. Great sound and great quality. Easy to install (first timer). Huge upgrade to existing display and works perfectly. I had one issue with crackling noise after installation but when I asked the seller through Amazon “ask the seller a question” they got back to me quickly and guided me to the setting that needed to be changed and no more crackling noises. Honestly car feels like a new car now. All original functions including backup cameras all work. Easy to use. Love it!!!! Instructions that come with it are not enough to install if you are a first timer but there are utubes which explain. It was easy.

CIC-Horrible Audio
This review is for the CIC unit where you have to plug in the 3.5mm audio cable into center consol to work. The audio is horrible and is not tolerable. It sounds like I am under water in a tunnel. If I could record it to add to my review, I would, but I don't think it would do justice to how bad it is. I tried 2 different units and different wiring. As a CarPlay/navigation unit it is fine, but that is it. For now, I have it set up for wireless CarPlay but plug my phone into center console like I did before and have great audio. In doing this though, you will lose Bluetooth phone abilities as well. But at least I have CarPlay and navigation now as well as a touch screen.

Best Upgrade for My 2016 BMW 528i with Android Auto!
Reviewed in the United States on Jul 30, 2025. I bought this 10.25” screen for my 2016 BMW 528i with the NBT system, and it's been an amazing upgrade. Installation was pretty straightforward, and I didn’t lose any of the car’s original functions — iDrive, reverse camera, and parking sensors all still work perfectly. It took me just a little over 2 hours to install, and this was my first time ever doing something like this. I followed several YouTube videos to guide me step-by-step, and with a bit of patience and organization, it’s definitely doable without paying for professional installation. I use Android Auto wirelessly every day, and the connection is fast and stable. Apps like Google Maps, Spotify, and Waze run smoothly. Waze in particular works great and integrates beautifully with the new screen. The touchscreen is sharp and very responsive. One important tip: to get Bluetooth audio working properly, make sure to set the original BMW system to AUX mode. That way, all sound from the new system plays perfectly through the car’s speakers. Although the included manual is pretty basic, it does explain how to correctly adjust the screen size from the car’s original system — which was essential for a proper display fit. ✅ Smooth, reliable wireless Android Auto ✅ Modern, crisp, and responsive touchscreen ✅ Bluetooth, GPS, and OEM features all working fine ✅ Works perfectly with Google Maps, Spotify, and Waze ✅ Fast and stable Linux-based system ✅ Beginner-friendly install if you follow YouTube tutorials ✅ AUX setup needed for audio, but works great This screen truly gave new life to my car’s interior. If you have a 2013–2016 F10/F11 BMW with the NBT system, this is a fantastic way to modernize your ride without complications. 5 stars well deserved.
