Excellent pump!
Our previous single speed pool pump was about to kick the bucket, so I did some research on variable speed pumps. You can pay triple for a brand name, or you can pay a lot less and get a lot more with this one. I checked out other reviews on this pump and figured I’d give it a shot, especially at this price point. I took the pump to my local hardware store and they helped me get all the PVC fittings I needed. The pump was not difficult to install. I got the 2 HP 115v pump (which plugs into a standard outlet) - it has a built in timer so you can choose how long you run it on high speed, low speed, and completely off. The pump self-primes and is surprisingly quieter. We are using this pump on our 16x40 in-ground pool. Overall I am extremely happy with the product and our pool is very clean!

Great value for money, relatively quiet, intuitive setup
I ordered this pump to replace an expensive Pentair variable-speed pump that finally leaked and motor bearings started to go after about seven years of service. Just put the new pump into service this morning. The fittings are for 1-1/2 to 2-1/2" PVC. My setup uses 2" PVC. It went together easily and relative dimensions of the suction and pressure ports were almost identical to the Pentair, though the pump was about 1-1/2" shorter... easily addressed by raising it by that much. The timer function does not directly keep time of day but keeps the time from when it was first plugged in, running low to high or high to low cycles plus a stop cycle, adjustable by number of hours totaling 24. The water flow is very good on high, and the timer setup is relatively intuitive. Very good value for the money - let's hope it lasts! I registered the pump's warranty, and that extended it to three years. The basket and mounting are all plastic. I'd rather have had the mounting at least be metal, though it should be OK for now. It runs quietly, even on high - more quietly than the one it replaced.

36 hour timer when the rest of the world is 24 hours, who the F does this!
So oddly enough the pump which is an excellent pump, but the timer sucks in the timer works on a 36 hour clock one unfortunately the rest of the world functions on a 24 hour clock. I don’t know why they did this, but I cannot set the pump to run for 12 hours at night, high speed and 12 hours at night low speed. The pump will only run on a 36 hour clock so that means I can set the pump for 12 hours at night high speed 12 hours during the day low speed and then stop for 12 hours during the night then during the day it’ll start at 12 hours high speed then nighttime 12 hours low speed, then daytime stop then go back to running 12 hours high speed at night 12 hours low speed during the day and then again. What I wanted to do is I wanted to run eight hours at night at high speed then low speed for 16 hours during the daytime hours and that’s it just a 24 hour clock consistently so at night it always runs high speed for eight hours during the day runs low fee for 16 hours. This pump doesn’t do that because the timer wants to do its own thing for 36 hours no matter what there’s no way to change it to 24. If I would’ve known this, I would’ve just got a single speed pump and just put it on a regular timer. This is just very irritating because I cannot get the pump to run consistently. Otherwise it’s a great pump.

Great pump for the money
I was on the fence about this pump, but so far, after 24 hrs, I like it. It is much quieter than my pentair dynamo, and holy cow the jet stream on this thing! This 2hp pump is replacing a 1.5 hp pump, and I can definitely see and feel the extra power. It was easily hardlined in with the 1.5 inch fitting that was provided. Build quality and value of this thing is great so far. Haven’t played with the timer settings a lot yet, but probably will this weekend. Works like it should, and overall, I’m very pleased. Will update review if needed.

IT IS NOT A 2 HP PUMP
Quick plug and use pool pump but this is NOT and I repeated NOT 2HP. In low mode it has a quiet hum and barely pulls any water. In high mode its quite a bit louder but till has very little suction. Running with a Pentair cc150 Cartridge Filter it barely pushed 3 jets on my inground pool have almost unnoticeable flow. Its a 13,000 gallon pool. The previous motor was a 2HP dual speed pump and was 4 times more powerful then this. This is NOT a 2HP pumpThis is NOT a 2HP pumpThis is NOT a 2HP pump

Its a surprise how great it can be
Quiet. Its so QUIET. but yet so powerful. I replaced a 2hp pump with this 1.5 and every now is in balance with the pool and my heater and the pool vacuum. I thought it was not going to have enough power but......SURPRISE!. Its a long overdue upgrade. Its must buy. High speed to vacuum and low speed to run heater and keep the water moving . I love it.
