It has a light pleasant scent, but since I also shave with a brush and shaving cream that is scented, the scent of the shaving oil is not important to me. What is most important is that the shaving oil provide a protective, smooth coverage of my beard. This product is the best I've tried, which includes a shaving oil much more expensive, than Alonzo's. I'll stick to this product, highly recommended.

I just had one of the better shaves I've had in a good while, and I used nothing but a splash of water and the recommended amount of this shaving oil (and, of course, a razor). I like the scent and the feel and the ease of use, not to mention that the effects were beyond my expectations. The small bottle also will be excellent for travel.I've been skeptical of shave oils until I had a shave done with it, and that was a fantastic shave. However, that shave was done with Elemis shaving oil, an excellent product but 2-3x the price of Alonso's. Still, I've been interested in shaving oils as an alternative to my cream & brush, so I tried Alonso's based on reviews. I was not disappointed. My razor felt smooth and comfortable on my skin, and my stubble came off easily. I very much liked how, as my skin dried out a little and the razor seemed to drag, I could restore all slickness and comfort simply by dipping my off-hand fingertips into my rinse water and rubbing them over the area I needed to shave. I never had to reapply oil for my second pass or touch-ups. When all was done, I had a damn fine shave with almost no alcohol sting from my aftershave.Originally, I thought I might get something like this for short-term travel--very easy to pack and carry on. However, I might end up with this oil for my daily shaves. It's that good and easy. It will take a short time to get used to the different feel of oil residue, but I don't expect it to be a problem. It's a different feel, but it's also a very comfortable one.

This product is incredible. i usually give 3 stars for products i buy because i like to be honest with the pros and cons and to have people look at a realistic customers opinion. so for that reason, u should understand that 4 stars for me means its really good. this product is soft and gives a good shave. i only used it once or twice for a shave and it does ok. personally i feel like it didnt work that well for shaving and i went back to using my regular shave cream. but the reason i love it is because i use it as a beard moisturizing oil and it feels so good and soft and healthy and moisturizing and the oil does not get messy. i would say this is my second favorite beard oil that i like. so i gave some pros and cons there. hope this helped. ask me any questions u have and ill try to reply fast so u can make a decision. PERSONALLY I DIDNT LIKE THE SHAVING THAT MUCH WITH IT, BUT ABSOLUTELY AMAZING FOR A MOISTURIZER. GOOD LUCK!

About 20 years ago I discovered Shave Secret in Wal*Mart and tried it on a whim. It became my preferred shave method since. For no reason I understand, in the last month or so, the local stores quit carrying it. It quickly sold out. Oddly enough, Wally World equates "sold out" with "we don't have any so nobody must like it." Not for all products, but for a few here and there. Clearly there is a nutso division there tasked with not selling things. Amazon, however, carries Shave Secret (which is a quality product, but I'm not reviewing it here other than to say I love it) but it also carries ASPNSOfM and, based on price per ounce, I decided to give it a fling instead of my standard SS purchase. It worked 100% as good as SS, but didn't have SS's aggressive clove scent. That said, I like the clove scent of SS, but if that's not your thing, then the milder scent of this product might be a welcome thing. I like to put pros and cons here, but I can't think of any cons. My only con for SS is that it's pricier than ASPNSOfM so I'm at a loss for negatives.

I haven't reviewed this but in reading all the positive and negative reviews I see that there are several ways to use this product. I purchased it as a pre shave oil. I put about 6 drops in my hand and rub it into my beard before lathering up with my shaving brush. I see that many reviews say they use this only but I've never tried that. I use a single edge razor and along with whatever shaving cream/soap I use, the Alonzos really sets up a moist beard to prepare for my shave.I shave 6 days a week and this bottle will typically last me about 3 months. I've seen reviews that claim this is expensive and if used as the only lubricant for shaving I can see their point, as I would assume you would need to apply more than what I do as a pre shave oil. Bottom line is, for the way I use this its perfect to set up my beard for a close shave. I've been using for about 2 years now. Well worth the investment in my opinion. Highly recommended.

Smells odd and isn't as slick as I had hoped. There is no way I could shave with just this, so need to add some Cremo or Jack Black shave cream to make it work. I don't see the value or the need, so would not order again.

I've been using this shaving oil for about a week with a water-immersible Norelco and it does provide a closer shave than other products I've tried. Water on the face first followed by rubbing in the oil - then shave. Rinse face with moisturizing facial cleanser or soap to remove excess oil left over after the shave.Pros: Gives closer shaveLubricates electric shaver blades since it's an oil.Smell is not offensive.Acts as a moisturizer.Cons: This stuff is more expensive than other oils I've used since you have to use a nickel-sized glob for each shave.Face must be washed after shaving to remove excess oil.Changed rating to 5-stars since this oil has given me the closest shaves with an electric that I've ever experienced.; in fact, closer than with a blade. I'll gladly put up with the need to wash off the excess oil.
