what does an msac m2 do?

Fred I ordered the msac-m2 memory stickduo.What that stick does is extened the short 256mb stick so it fits in the camera.With out the adapter the stick is to short to push in the camera. If you do you can not get the stick out

Will this adapter work with older sony memory sticks to fit in regular sd card slot? they are almost 2" long and approx. 7/8" wide.
