Would you recommend this model for a shower in a guest bathroom?

Probably not but can work if you live in a southern environment and can supply 10 gauge wiring (or whatever they specify) to it. I use mine on an outdoor shower to my pool area and works well, but you have to control the temperature by lowering the water flow thru to it. The first time I tried it, I had to actually remove the low flow stuff in the shower head because it was too hot but after I removed it its comes out a nice 100+ temperature straight out of the hot end. Note, if it is really cool in florida, this does not work real well because this particular model just doesn't have the wattage to heat up the water really well.I bought this primarily to heat my water at my kitchen sink and dishwasher and it does a fantastic job doing so as opposed to waiting a minute plus for water from the other side of my house to come. As a bonus, I also added an adaptor and run it out to a shower faucet for the pool and it works well for that also, but if you are in a cooler place than florida, I would encourage you to get something stronger because you will need to heat a lot more than 1/2 a gallon a minute or a gallon a minute flow rate that this really heats up.

Hi Mark. It depends on the flow rate. This unit heats water by 37°F at a flow rate of 1.0 GPM (and a proportionately lower temperature rise with a higher flow rate, and higher temp. rise with lower flow rate). All tankless water heaters operate on the same principle. Therefore your incoming water temperature must be at least 63°F when the water is flowing at 1.0 GPM. This is a summary. Using for a single sink in an rv. may i turn the pou 6 on and off as needed? if it is off, how long does it need to "preheat" before optimal use?

The Ecosmart turns on when there is water flow from the faucet. All other times it is off. The heat time is almost instant, depending how long the pipe is from the heater to the faucet.
