I purchased this older book for him to add to his collection. Great book with a great story line. Review: One of my favorite authors. - Here again is one of my favorite authors. "Taming The Star Runner" is a tale of the constant struggle of a young man trying to fit in.. somewhere, anywhere but who is truly a unique young man and different in a lot of ways from his peers. He pretty much tries not to let it show but he wants to be a writer. In high school you can imagine how this would go over. He has a lousy stepfather as seems oft to be the case, who does something incredibly insensitive to Travis and it lands Travis out in the mid west living with his Uncle on a farm away from the city and everything he knows and understands. Talk about a "fish out of water"! Here he meets Casey and her crazy horse, The Star Runner . Slowly a relationship between Travis, Casey, and his Uncle Ken begins to develop. Here is where Ms. Hinton excels. Weaving a story full of vibrant characters and their interactions into a deeply felt finality. The ending is extremely subtle and true to real life. Again, what I love about this author.

The characters come alive, the scenery is vivid, the storyline is catching. Only one complaint, too much cursing. Young adults
The characters come alive, the scenery is vivid, the storyline is catching. Only one complaint, too much cursing. Young adults should be aware that the Lord's name is taken in vain often, before they venture this book. The book would have been much more enjoyable without it.

Worth it to see my husband smile
S.E. Hinton was my husband’s favorite author. He got me to watch the outsiders for the first time about 4 years ago. My husband had all of her books except this one. He looked everywhere (obviously not Amazon 🤣) for this book to so he could have all the books she wrote. We found out on August the 1st he was in full liver failure and was given 3 to 6 months. We were devastated. I found this book and bought it for him. When I took it to the hospital and gave it to him the smile was worth every penny and more. Unfortunately his time was cut short and he stayed Golden until September the 1st. My son now has his dad's collection of his S.E. Hinton books.

Another Fantastic S.E. Hinton Masterpeice!
This book exceeded far beyond my expectations! The story plot is fantastic, and the moment you start reading, you want more! The detail is not quite as descript as "The Outsiders" but it is by far, the second best in my book. I was just going to read the first chapter to start with, but I ended up finishing the book in a matter of hours. Overall, a great value!

S.E. does it again!!!
Great story, started off slow but if u make it past the first chapter (too much description, Hintons trademark style) you will find this to be one of those books that is hard to put down! this books unique feature is that the main character "Travis" is definitely (according to me) Hinton in the way she was so young when she was attempting to have her first book published. Thus making his story extremely insightful from an aspiring young authors prospective, but the rest of the story is very strong as well.

I’m sure the content is fine, but the cover & text are really cheap quality - don’t have the feel of a proper publishing company to me.

I read S.E.Hinton books when younger and when I saw her books are available on Kindle I decided to download and revisit some old favourites. I soon found out that the young adult stories I loved as a teenager are just as compelling for adults. This particular book revolves around Travis, a young writer with a volatile home life who moves to his Uncles in the Country where he finds that cool kids are defined in a different way to back home. The story focuses on his attempts to fit in and the friendships he builds as well as continuing the young writer storyline detailing his efforts to get published. All in all a very good coming of age story.

Don't remember reading this one as a kid so thought I'd try it out - possibly losses something not being a teenager anymore ;) but it was fun reading it nonetheless :)
