Guilty Pleasure Purchase Becomes Most Used Tool
I purchased this pencil because I took a workshop with a professional artist, and he used one of these. What is instantly noteworthy about these pencils is the thickness of the leads. There are other 'thicker lead' pencils out there, but here are the reasons I love this one: 1. thicker lead means it doesn't snap or break. It's thin enough to do fine lines, but thick enough to also shade or sketch larger objects. 2. shape of the pencil - makes it easier to hold in older hands, ergonomically balanced to rest nicely against the hand. It is comfortable to grip, and small enough to fit in any case. 3. Aesthetically pleasing - while this may not have anything to do with its performance, it does make me enjoy reaching for this tool or having it with me. It is a well designed tool that does the job - and looks good doing it. Replacement leads are inexpensive and come in large quantities. I have tried pencils with different thickness - this is a unique width to Faber Castell, you need their brand refills because no other pencils are the 1.3mm thickness. I have a drafting pencil with a 5mm lead, and while it's great and can be sharpened, it doesn't allow for fine detail like this one does. Yet with a little use at an angle, I can get sharp, tiny lines too, without snapping the lead!

Pencil it in
It's a great pencil and beautiful in design. I have several! The lead is thicker than usual, so you can write without worry of it breaking.

Durable and reliable and elegant
I use a number of Faber Castell products. They are brilliantly engineered. This E-motion line is especially well suited for every day use. The pencil led is fairly thick, so it's good for drawing, use on the road with engineering drawings, etc. But it's still fine for writing notes, letters, and so on. The matching ball point pen is also very good and if you want to get fancy, the fountain pen is one of the best I've ever used. A great product from a truly great company. (I own two and I have given away at least ten as gifts.)

BEST MECHANICAL PENCIL MADE TODAY
I love Faber Castell mechanical pencils. (I own three of them.) They're ruggedly constructed, will last indefinitely and, as far as I've been able to determine, are the only mechanical pencils manufacture today that use 1.4 mm lead, the same caliber of lead that the old Scripto pencils of the 1950s. I'm unable to use the mechanical pencils made by other current suppliers that use 0.5 to 0.9 mm lead because, no matter how light my touch, these thin leads break as soon as I put them to paper. They're also not nearly as ruggedly constructed as the Faber Castell. I especially like the Faber Castells with wooden barrels. They feel great in the hand. These pencils are relatively expensive, but well worth the price. They're not always easy to find.

A Work Of Art
A mechanical pencil that is so OG AND a work of art. I treasure mine. Forget other pens and pencils. This is the real deal. It’s “buttah”

Great pencil
This is my third one due to loss. I like a thick pencil and the wood feels very good in the hand. I virtually dare you to break one of the leads for this pencil, as they are very large. If it somehow goes missing, I will save up and buy another one.
