The pieces are well made. Really had to focus and negotiate the empty spaces.

The cat craze hit its peak in the 1990s, spurred on perhaps by the global Hello Kitty phenomenon. At the same time, coffee businesses like Starbucks were rapidly expanding their retail footprint. This puzzle from a 1992 "New Yorker" cover, merges these two high-profile cultural objects into one playful image. Even the fur on the cat’s back looks like a latte milk swirl. The gingham table cloth, printed wallpaper and cane-backed chair all suggest a pastoral, rural kitchen scene – a nod to coffee’s humble, kitchen table origins in this country. Perhaps “Cattuccino” is artist Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu’s visual and linguistic swat at the chic and pretentious mantle that was being put on the simple cup of coffee.The 1000-piece puzzle is easy to build thanks to the defined color boundaries – red-checked tablecloth, grey-and-white cat, white cup, brown wallpaper, reddish-brown chair, and dark-brown New Yorker name. My complaint: that such a frisky image has such dull, muted colors. I did not find this clever image to be a lively puzzle-building experience. Could be a great gift for the cat and/or coffee lover in your life, but this image works best as a calendar - or magazine cover - than as a puzzle.

For cat lovers

This was a special birthday gift for our niece. She loves the puzzle. Due to the HORRIBLE delivery service, and despite it being ordered in PLENTY of time, it arrived late for her birthday.

We've done quite a few puzzles in the last few months and we were excited to do this one because it was so cute and we love the New Yorker! But the pieces fit pretty loosely and we had several times when pieces fit together and looked like they went together, but didn't, and then we had to disassemble a bunch of pieces and redo it. It's pretty much impossible to pick up more than two pieces and move them without them all falling apart. Overall, a fun and challenging puzzle, but the pieces were frustrating.

We're not really into tough puzzles and this one - at least to us neophytes - was a tough puzzle. Many of the pieces just nearly fit several places and with this picture, there are so many near-impossible matches. We took it apart after about two weeks. We'll scale down our expectations - maybe get back to the shallow end. :-)

Das Motiv an sich finde ich super. Und auch das Zusammensetzen war nicht so schwierig und hat Spaß gemacht. Das einzige, was mich stört: Ein Teil hat gefehlt. Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass es von Anfang an nicht dabei war, da ich wirklich sehr vorsichtig mit den Teilchen umgegangen bin. Gott sei Dank ist es nur am Rahmen, aber ärgerlich ist es trotzdem. Schade.

This was my first New Yorker puzzle back in December 2018. I am now on my sixth 1000 piece New Yorker puzzle. Each is very different from the usual puzzle, refreshingly different. The shape ofthe pieces is enjoyable different from the standard puzzles.Strongly recommended.PS Why is the range of puzzles available via Amazon somewhat restricted? When compared with those on the manufactures website. I want to get hold of 'Mount Fugi'. Any ideas, please?
