Bought this for Xmas for my 20 year old daughter to take back on to university on the plane. She was so interested in it, she built it while still at home and she loved it. It does require a good fine set of side cutters to get the pieces out of the parts frames (they are cut out from small rectangular pieces of flat stock and have small segments uncut to hold them in the flat stock), and then small needle nose pliers to assemble, but otherwise are pretty cool.

These were very challenging to put together, but well worth the effort. I love these little guys. Takes about one hour per bug to assemble.

The Ladybird came out really nice. This was my first build before I tried the bigger models, and was very happy with the result. I recommend you put the magnet at the butt instead of the head, as the magnets are very strong, and you will need the extra space for your fingers to get a hold of. When putting the filigree coating on the other magnet, be sure to half build it before putting the magnet in like the instructions said. I was a fool and tried to assemble the enclosure around the magnet, but the magnet is so strong my tools just kept snapping to it. If your going to actually wear it, I recommend a small dab of superglue to reinforce the 2 front feelers and the little filigree tail at the back, as they can catch on fabric and bend very easily. If you wanna get super fancy you can hide the more visible tabs by folding in the receiving tabs and locking them internally. This worked really well for me on the 4 wings, and the head pieces. I did it for the black back as well, but shouldn't have bothered, as they end up hidden by the filigree, so I spent time being fiddly for no reason. You CAN do it for the legs, but it will be a real pain to sort of rotate them in a way to get the tabs in. IF you do try, and you really don't have to, they're very small. Then I recommend that in addition to bending in the receiving tabs, pre-bend the legs themselves LENGTH WAYS, as in rounding them as if they had meat in them. It gives more room for the tab to go in, and I think makes the legs look better. Luckily you have a couple attempts, as they give you extra pieces for SOME of the legs, the smallest and most fiddly pieces! It was a great afternoon.

quality is not as expected. Tiny pieces will not fit properly and should really be glued to stay in place. Assembly, these are impossible to construct without the use of a magnifying glass. I want to return the whole lot.

We were gifted a larger set, and decided we needed to get a practice model. This was our choice. This had instructions that were hard to follow as the details were small. We were unable to find an online video to help. We concede that our 50 year old eyes might have been part of the problem. We strongly suggest using a magnifying glass. We could not finish it and gave up.
