This canister is just what I was looking for. I wanted some stainless steel food canisters for my kitchen. I did not want glass or ceramic canisters, I wanted stainless steel. I did not want stainless steel with glass or plastic or acrylic or anything else...I wanted canisters that were completely made of stainless steel and nothing else. I really didn't think that would be such an unusual thing to shop for. But you would not believe how difficult it is to find food canisters that are completely stainless steel. I finally found a set of four canisters and promptly ordered them. They are nice looking and sturdy, but they are small - even the largest one is still pretty small. So I had to resume my search. Then I found this pet food canister.It is closer to the size I was looking for, so it works in that regard. It Is solid and well made, not thin and flimsy. I love it! The can is formed from one solid piece - there is no seam around the bottom, so I really like that.As others have stated, the lid was very difficult to remove when I first received it and took it out of the box. It took me a few minutes to work it loose, but I finally managed. This didn't bother me - I was expecting it since I had read the reviews here. Now that I am using it, I just don't push the lid all the way down to the lip, so I don't have to worry about struggling to open it. The lid is still on securely - I just only push it about half-way to the lip and stop. It is still on snug, but is also easy to remove. I haven't had any more difficulties with the lid so I think once you are able to remove for it the first time, it should not be a problem after that.Some other reviewers have mentioned that they are disappointed that the designs on the canister are too faint, but I really like it that way. I do love animals and in fact I have a cat (which is why I got the cat canister instead of the dog canister), but since I was going to use this for my kitchen I didn't want a bold/loud animal design. I really do like the design on this canister - the silhouettes are very cute (a kitty in different poses), and the fact that it is so faint makes it appear more on the "classy" side to me, as opposed to "gaudy".This is a solid, well-made, quality canister at a very reasonable price and it looks good. It is a wonderful canister to use for your pet food, but it is so nice that it can be used in your kitchen or any other room/for other purposes. I plan to purchase more of these. I highly recommend it.

I've mixed feelings about this item. I actually expected a bit smaller but it actually worked out well. Because it is larger than my other 2 treat containers I was able to divide the canister with a bit of cardboard in a ziplock bag wedged in the center. Having 1 of 3 kitty's with special needs, our morning routine has become less of a fumbling about issue. Its size also allowed for a 16 oz package of treats on one side and a 12 oz package of treats on the other. (We buy in bulk for them) The design on can is so super faint. Wish it was more prominent because it is cute. I think the rim may become an issue once you have to dig deeper into it. It feels a bit sharper than it should be. Stainless steel tends to have a sharper edge if not finished properly so be careful of that. I posted 2 pictures for you. The first is for size examples. As per others reviews, you can not fit a small bag of food in it, much less a scoop too. The white canister to its rt. Is that size. The 2 small stainless steel canisters were for their treats. As stated above, couldn't fit a full 12 oz package in those. The second picture is how we chose to make this canister work for us. I hope this helps in your decision making.

This canister is just okay. Like others said, it will not hold and entire small 3 lb bag of food. So you either have to store the rest of the bag somewhere or use this for treats. The lid is a bit hard to remove but I guess the suction probably keeps the food fresh, so that's fine. Dry food will fly all over when you're pulling it off if you're not careful though. All in all its sturdy and nice. It looks much cleaner than a bag of food in my kitchen. My main complaint is more that you can barely see the design on it. Actually, you wouldn't know there was a word or pictures etched into it at all unless you looked extremely close in the right light. They're nearly invisible. You can see them better in a photo but in real life they're very faint. I only have one animal, but I imagine if I had a "dog" and a "cat" canister, id get tired of not knowing which is which.

I purchased these to hold Dog and Cat food within easy reach of feeding station. They are tight lids and hold about 2/3 of a bag of 3.5lbs of food. I really needed bigger containers. The lids are a little hard to remove as there is no handle, but at least they are tight to keep out bugs and air! You can't really see the dog or cat label on the side of the can as it is raised only slightly and not really visible as shown in picture. I would buy bigger cans with lid handles, if I had known. I have to use the food bags until about 1/3 gone. Otherwise, they look nice and could be used for storing anything.

Very cute with a tight lid that my cats can't open. It doesn't hold a full bag of cat food or anything, but it holds at least a week's worth of food for my two cats, so it's not that bothersome to refill. Solves the problem of them breaking into the bag of food, or having to lug out the food bag from a closet every time I want to feed them.

Wish it was a bit bigger. My cat eats a lot. Maybe I should wish he was a bit smaller...

Finally a canister my beast of a cat can't open. Looks great and matches the rest of his stainless steel food and water bowls.
