I find the words simple than most of the Indian writer.......Easy flow of writing and you want find it boring if u love to read fiction...

Really enjoyed reading this wonderful novel (as opposed to looking at the cartoon version I mistakenly purchased as an 'illustrated' version earlier). Large type and in good condition - very pleased with this ex-library book.

I remember finding this book in a cupboard when I was a teenager. What could a book called "The Good Earth" be about? I opened it and read the first line, and I was hooked. I did not stop reading until I reached the end. When I was done, I learned important lessons: work hard, buy land, and NEVER sell it. I have done that.When I was older and married, I found the book and read it again. I told my husband he HAD to read it. He had been raised on a farm and said, "I don't care one iota to read about a peasant farmer in China". The next time we flew somewhere, I brought it along. He was bored at the airport and I gave it to him. He started reading and he kept reading. I said, "How are you liking it?" He looked up with misty eyes and said, "They had to kill the ox to feed the babies." He read the whole thing on that flight.

The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck is by far one of the best novels I have ever read. The story itself is captivating and the prose flowed so easily from chapter to chapter. It was very hard to put this book down. Had I been able I could have easily read it in a few days. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a classic novel for a book club.
