Bridgett is a writer I've gotten the pleasure to have known through social media as I am also a writer and her book is the rawest most beautiful thing I've read in a very long time because I personally related to so much of it. I completed reading the book, 'Soft Thorns' by the very talented poetess, Bridgett Devoue. Though am not very good with writing reviews, but this one I really wanted to. Well, words won't be able to justify the connection I felt with the writings in soft thorns. Every piece I read was so beautiful. Her writings touched my mind, heart and soul. I could feel her emotions in them. Being a woman, I was able to relate to every woman centric piece. While reading, I noted down page no.s of the ones I loved a lot (some of them I've shared in pics above). I am so so glad to have read this book, not only it inspired me as a writer but also as a woman. I even wrote 2-3 musings inspired from her writings, like imagine so thought provoking were her quotes. I really loved reading soft thorns and could feel her soul being reflected in the words. It's a very special book for me and will always be a prized possession in my collection.

A lot of small poems on the authors disappointments in a failed relationship. She draws attention to the fact that she misses her partner, reminisces about the times in love, feels the longing intensely in present and finally uses it as a measure to rebuild her strength to face life anew seeking love. I liked the poem in which she says that a person who breaks your life already has done half the work for you in case you want to rebuild your life. Recommended.

Split into sections, Soft Thorns deals with subjects such as love, passion, healing and pain through short punchy poetry. Written beautifully with a raw yet skilled hand, each poem flows with feeling and honesty. Some poems are accompanied by ink drawings which compliment the words perfectly...overall, an outstanding book.

I absolutely loved this book! I read it in one sitting. "Soft Thorns" mainly deals with love and heartbreak, but also with sexual assault, sexism and hope. A lot of people compare it to "Milk and Honey" by Rupi Kaur and consider "Soft Thorns" a copy (and dislike it for that very reason). While I do see a resemblance, I wouldn't go as far as calling it a copy. The drawing style is very similar and some of the themes are the same. But the poems in "Soft Thorns" aren't quite as heavy and are more about overcoming heartbreak than overcoming sexual assault.

The best book I've read in awhile. Truly a masterpiece. Loved every word. It has great context from experience and is a book to die for! Worth the price. Absolutely loved it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Beautiful poetry, the drawings are also lovely, however the poetry can be quite deep if you have a traumatic history.
