Beware! This one is a pirated copy. Since it was not available in my local bookstores I bought this one, and now I am ashamed of myself for being another reason for dead bookstores

Worth buying if only to get the dozen plus pages of the sequel to The Lord Of The Rings that Tolkien started to write but then abandoned. Set some hundred years or so after the death of Aragorn. Is trouble stirring anew in Gondor?

Well, ahem, how would I describe the plot of this book? Err, um... heh. I can't! But that doesn't matter. If you love the characters of Middle-earth, this book reveals so much of the rich history that Tolkien created. I absolutely love it for referring to his languages, character names, and background character stories. I also find it very interesting to read Tolkien's early drafts. I appreciate the commentary by Christopher Tolkien that clarifies it.

大変だけど星５つです。 アムラス、アムラスの話なんかシルマリル収録バージョンより説得力あり、迫力あり。暗くて不吉で魅力的！ じめじめくねくねきじゅつしてないのがまたトールキンらしいところ。 視点を今までのSilやAkとは移してみたり、教授のヌメノールの血がもはやそこまでの寿命を与えていなかったのがくやまれる。あるいは西に帰るのが早すぎた！ アメリカ版のほうが安いけど、HMシリーズはあえて装丁も美しいことを条件にしなければなりません。 変な絵、気に入らない色だと冒涜だと思うほど、なんというか、まぁ、”いとしい”？物語です。 断片だけど味わえます。 こういう風に書き直してある、他に似たようなこんな原稿がある、いつ頃書いていた、鉛筆かペンか、など詳細な注が嬉しい。

Im Zentrum steht die Evolution der Themen und Geschichten durch viele verschiedene, z.T. widersprüchliche oder schwer zu entziffernde Texte und Textfragmente. Wer sich darauf einlässt, wird mit einem tiefgehenden Verständnis für Tolkiens Lebenswerk belohnt. Anspruchsvolle Lektüre, ungeeignet für Leser, die nur neue Geschichten aus dem HdR-Universum suchen.
