Excellent History of Mirage F-1 in Iraqi Service
Well written, with a lot of details I never knew before. Especially interesting was the part (very extensive) about the Iran-Iraq war, with F-14 vs Mirage F-1 combat of high interest to me: looks like it was a more or less even match even with the massive technological superiority of the Tomcat, on paper at least. But granted, claims and stories from pilots/crews can often be quite misleading, so you do have to take it with a grain of salt. still, the author seems to have done a lot or cross-research so I would say most of it is probably fairly reliable. Good pictures, lots of personal pilot anecdotes and testimonies, technical details, color three-view drawings, easy to read. Highly recommended.

Worth purchasing
This is a fairly interesting and well researched book on the subject of the Iraqi Air use of the Mirage F.1 in addition it also covers the very brief use of the Super Enterand which France loaned to Iraq for a time period during the Iran Iraq War.I really hope that this author writes some more books on other Iraqi Air Force aircraft used during the Iran Iraq War. It is definitely a very interesting and usually ignored subject matter in the West.

Great comprehensive history of the Mirage in Iraqi service
A thorough coverage of the Mirage aircraft in Iraqi Air Force service with many never before seen mission pictures and stories directly from the pilots flying them from the Iran/Iraq war throught to Operation Iraqi Freedom. A very fitting tribute to the pilots, the aircraft and the politics surrounding the Iraqi Mirage program. An excellent section is included for modelers and history buffs on the types of aircraft, markings and caoflauge. An excellent book highly recommended!

Very informative book from the other side
It is not often that one finds a book documenting air operations of “the bad guys”. There are tons of books by American or British pilots but seldom books about their opponents. Finally we have a book about Iraqi air operations during the Iran-Iraq war and the 1991 and 2003 Gulf wars and specifically about their use of the Mirage F1, a plane that the Allied air commanders feared the most in the Iraqi arsenal (even more so than the Mig 29).This book is a treasure trove of information about the planes, the pilots, the weapons and the operations and tactics.Whilst the Iraqi air force has been panned in most books about the Gulf wars, we see in this book that the pilots were still brave men who took on daunting missions and doing what they could for their country and doing their duty. The book is full of many photos and excellent paintings and drawings of the Mirages. My only criticism is that the text often looks like it was written in a foreign language and not well translated into English, with a number of grammatical errors. However, strangely this seems to add to the authenticity of the book about a foreign air force. The only other book I can think of so detailed about a foreign air force often depicted as the bad guys, is “Wings over the Malvinias” about the Argentine air force in the Falklands conflict - who, like the Iraqis, also enjoyed much success with the Mirage F1 and the Super Etentards equipped with the now infamous Exocet missile. If you want a different perspective, get this book.
