Well Told
The simple, straightforward prose of this version of the Norse myths may at first seem like it is just for children. But the stories as told are engaging and compelling, like good fairy and folk tales that stay with us long after we have forgotten some modern novel in a more sophisticated style. There are various primary sources for the Norse myths, and any story teller has to choose from competing versions, and he has to decide to what extent to try to make a coherent narrative out of tales that may not have come out of one coherent body of myth. This version is a bit different from other authors' takes, which gives food for thought to readers who are fairly familiar with the stories. The drawings - based on Viking Age art - are a good complement to the stories. The author does downplay sexual episodes, so this book is suitable for children as well as adults.

A Good Telling
This is one of those books that will become a well used, read repeatedly, and will be recommended. I see it as gifts as well. The stories ate well told and have the feel of the spoken word.A must have for those who have the interest.

an interesting insight into mythology
A good read that allowed more of an understanding of this currently popular mythology. Disappointed that the stories were somewhat childish in their format though. Made it easy to read however I am sure there is more to each tale than what is covered. Good for an insight though little else.

Viking Myths
not for everybody but I liked it, a hard to pronounce some the gods names.

Over-translated.
The myths are presented in an easy to read style, but almost every Norse name is translated into English without providing the original Norse name. This takes the fun out of it a bit.

For young children
More for a younger audience then I thought.

Great book...once I was able to open it....
The media could not be loaded. ย Great book.....once I'd broken the perforated fore edges. I am a digital print finisher for work and this is really bad for a book company. The pages are not trimmed on the edge of the book, so I physically had to tear the pages apart for every page in order to read it (see video)

Excellent book!
A very good read and well written. Difficult to put down using clearly written modern English to tell fabulous ancient stories.Great for those new to Germanic myths or those more familiar. Excellent book!
