A book full of wisdom that heals more than your eyes.
I gave this book 5 star and I need to explain why. This book is exactly what Medical Westerners and there followers abhor. They will admit it is mumbo jumbo but they will accept the fact that you wish to read it and possibly follow it. They will not how ever believe in it. This book explains traditional Chinese medicine basics. This does involve some pretty radical concepts that are not easy to accept. This book touches on nutrition and I am a firm believer in nutrition for healing. It talks strongly on positive thinking. Makes sense, if your mind emanates good surely the butterfly effect will occur through out your body? This book contains words of wisdom and judging by what I see here in Australia most people could do with these words. It really seems to me to go beyond healing your eyes but healing your life with what you do. This books gives very valid advice and I have no doubt in my mind who ever reads this and takes action, their life will be alleviated. What is spoken of in this books goes far beyond swallowing a panadol. This book challenges us to make a change in the way we live. We live once and why not live well? If you have a science mind and bite that biscuit, when you read this you are going to need to let that go. Open your mind to knew ideas! Is Chinese medicine superior to Western? Yes it is and the reason being. Number 1 the entire method is based on nutrients. Nutrients are the key to life. They are the fuel the body needs to heal and be efficient in every way! This book will teach but it will not teach you so much about nutrition. I suggest everyone to buy a book teaching what food are nutritious and which are not. The life style this book urges you to lead is what will allow you to begin a disease free life. One last note, this book does touch on Chinese spirituality, so if you are of a different religion, you are going to need to let that roll off your back and not get offended! This book is worth the read. If you life is hard and you experience much pain, you need to make some serious adjustments to yourself. You can not change those around you but you can change yourself.

Excellent book for patients and practitioners alike
This book is written in a way that both patients and practitioners alike will be able to get a lot out of it. The layout is clear, and it is very readable.I was drawn into the book from the beginning. Even though I am very well acquainted with the basics of Chinese medicine and the organ functions, they are presented an a different context in this book. Everything is given within the context of the eyes and eye diseases. This allowed me to take the knowledge that I had on treatment principles in general, and apply it to eye patterns.Perhaps the most outstanding aspect of the book is the holistic approach presented to working on eye diseases. There is information on lifestyle, eye exercises, qigong, herbs, acupressure, acupuncture, essential oils, magnets, and moxibustion. All of this information can be used by practitioners to improve their ability to treat eye problems. More importantly, it is written in a way that the patient can go home and do eye exercises, qigong, acupressure, or any of the other home treatment modalities presented in this book to further their eye health.Overall an excellent book.

Not so much for laypeople, but gives a LOT of hope.
I've got an old friend Andy who taught me to play poker years ago. He recently was stricken with age-related macular degeneration. Right when he reached his retirement years and can play a lot of poker - he can't anymore. My "new" friend Andy - the guy who wrote this book - gave me a lot of hope for my old friend. As he said to me in an email:"FYI, no one is too far gone in my experience. I've had some crazy success cases of people whom I thought would not get any results. As long as there is still a pulse, there is still hope..."Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can often help when nothing else will. The reason is that drugs rarely cure anything. Most drugs do one of two things. They kill something (in the case of antibiotics or chemotherapy drugs). Or, they react with receptors on cells (by blocking, interfering or activating the receptor). Cell receptors react to biomolecules such as hormones, neurotransmitters, etc.The problem is this doesn't cause healing - it merely blocks symptoms. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine works by helping the body's natural healing mechanisms take over. Only your body can heal itself - nothing else. Even the greatest surgeon can't heal the smallest cut.Andy just had an article printed about macular degeneration in Acupuncture Today. You can search for it at their site. According to the article, he's had an 80% success rate. If you're interested in treatment for age related macular degeneration, it's an excellent article. It will tell you if this book is for you.If you're interested in treatment for other eye conditions and want to know if this book addresses it, you can search inside this book - click on the book cover, above.

Great book on Micro Acupuncture and eye diseases
The chapters lays out TCM very well in relation to degenerative eye disease. The concept of micro acupuncture and the use and success with it on eye disease leaves something to seriously consider.Have Especially when medical care charges the insurance companies $5000.00 per eye injection (ie. Eylea) and your co-pay is hundreds of dollars. This should be an option for people and measure there responses. This pricing reflects corruption in healthcare. 10 injections comes to $50,000 on one patient per year. How many diabetics retinopathy cases are in the USA alone!
