Great overview, but could use supplements for beginners
I am taking CLEPs and DSSTs to earn college credit; I really enjoyed this course, as it was my favorite in high school, and so I knew a lot of the concepts and basic theories very well. That helped, but as I read this REA I sometimes got lost because it seemed to skip over certain concepts as if they were nothing or as if the reader would have already known such specific details. Thankfully I did some homework and found that watching the Youtube channel "ACDCLeadership" whenever I didn't understand a concept fixed the problem. Mr. Clifford's videos are short (usually a max of 5 min and average of 3min each), concise and most importantly make sense--and perfect for AFTER you read the REA material. And it is important to note that you can't just rely on those videos to guide you through; some of that "filler info" in the REA is really important to solidify concepts and maybe even learn a point of view you thought you knew but could have known more about. I also used the Official College Board Study Guide, online free Peterson's practice tests, the one or two of the REA tests to practice what the test questions would be like and to see if I could answer them appropriately. Those were my only sources, and really this REA was very necessary in in order to get a good overall view of what I needed to know, and help practice it. Just make sure you know that you might need a little extra help understanding somethings that the REA doesn't always adequately cover if your the average jo. All in all, I would definitely recommend this for study! Seriously, you need it. (I would also recommend using that Youtube channel in addition because it was free and the most helpful supplement.) In the end, I passed with a 61 with a cut score of 50, a very nice score really if you've ever taken very many. Totally worth the buy for 3 credit hours I didn't have to spend $800s at a university for, and I learned so much it was crazy. I am very glad I took this CLEP and used this REA. It's definitely worth your time, and worth your buy--

This is certainly NOT the best book out there to help you get ready for the Macroeconomics CLEP test. If you've never studied economics before you will probably be lost when reading the concepts review. I found the concepts review section to be very confusing and that's saying something since I just finished taking a college level economics course. The practice tests are helpful though. In fact the practice tests in this book are harder than the actual test.I was able to score a 73 on the test by having some knowledge from my economics class. But what REALLY HELPED me was a macroeconomics youtube channel called AC/DC Macroeconomics. This youtube channel is awesome. It is concise, to the point, and very helpful teaching macroeconomic terms. Check it out at... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e18RXFFoL9cYou can even buy a Macroeconomics test prep app for just $2.99. The app is designed to help high school kids pass the macroeconomics AP exam. So it is more than enough to help with the CLEP. I would highly recommend Mr. Clifford from AC/DC econ! This book really isn't that good. The teaching of concepts review is really bad. The practice tests are good. Hence 2 stars.

It is good.
It helps to pass the test. It takes a couple of days to get a good understanding on all the concepts, which are the key for test. This helps to save me 1,000$ for the class.

This book won't prepare you adequately for the CLEP Principles of Macroeconomics exam
Based on reviews for the previous edition of this book, I bought it as a study aid for the CLEP Principles of Macroeconomics exam. The subject of Macroeconomics is very dense and specific vs. other exams such as Management and Marketing, for which the REA books served as a great aid. To help my studying, I also bought the official CLEP study guide for Macroeconomics and the questions are much more difficult than the REA book suggests, although it doesn't provide the much needed explanations. For those looking to take and pass this exam, there are no short cuts - one must study a text book, and truly understand the concepts of the subject, and should only use this book to reinforce something they already know very well. While the expanded answer section with explanations is helpful, only a small handful of the 160 questions were covered in the test.

Worked for me
This is the only resource I used to study for my Principles of Macroeconmocis CLEP and I passed on my first try. That alone proves that this is a good study guide. I found the practice exams helpful, too. I am giving it 4 out of 5 because there were a few concepts that I googled to understand what they stood for, but other than that I found all the information I needed in the book.

Good test questions, but almost incomprehensible explanations.
I took the Macroeconomics CLEP test and I was surprised at how simple the test was when compared to this study guide. When I first began my study, I was really frustrated because I wasn't understanding anything that was being said. I thought that I had forgotten everything I had learned back in High School, but really it was because the language was so dense and unhelpfully full of acronyms. However, the review questions were really helpful in targeting what I had mastered and what still required some work. There are a lot of questions that I couldn't figure out why I had gotten the question wrong, even after going back and reading the (once again, incomprehensible) explanations, so I had to consult a lot of external sources. If you can recognize where you fall short, go ahead and use the internet. The explanations will be much more user-friendly.My suggestion to any serious studier is that you also use the official CLEP study guide before actually taking the exam. It will be a better gauge of whether or not you are prepared for the real exam. I was averaging 45-50/80 on these exams, but on the actual CLEP I got 68/80.
