Amazing quality, beautifully made, get it
This blanket is made of exceptional material and craftsmanship. The color and patterns are beautiful. I am always cold, and staying comfortably warm gets tricky throughout the year. At winter time, I use a heating pad, and struggle with being too cold when going to bed and then waking up in sweat because of too much heat. So glad I found this blanket and it’s a totally worthy investment! It is thick and soft to the touch, not itchy at all. Unlike many other blankets advertised as alpaca or wool but actually blended with synthetic material, this blanket is made of 100% natural fiber, it smells like lanolin like one of the reviewers said, which is actually quite calming for me. This is a smell of nice natural fiber, and it feels similar to the smell of high quality leather — if you know what I’m talking about, you know it, it’s a soothing natural smell. I put it on top of the down comforter, and it adds a perfect layer of insulation that carries just enough weight but lots of warmth. After using this blanket for one night and waking up in perfect warmth, I finally found the game changer for good sleep. I have not seen any shedding on the white sheet under Ian’s around it. I’ve used other wool blankets in the past and shedding was an issue for some of them. The material of this blanket and the weaving technique is really exceptional, with excellent breathability. Just get it, you won’t regret.

This is the Real Deal.
I don't write many reviews, but want to give big kudos to the designer and producers of this blanket. I raise sheep for their wool and sell raw wool to hand spinners, so I'm able to judge quality. I don't, however, have the skills to make my own blanket, and have wanted one for a long time. I've looked and looked, and just happened on this on Amazon. In today's world of factory products, it is a real treat to find something this well-made for this reasonable. It is not fluffy soft like artificial fibers can be, but it is real wool, carefully produced and handled, to make a product that will last multiple lifetimes and do it's job well. Yes, there is a lanolin smell, that's natural! It protects the wool, on the sheep, or on the human. Think fisherman sweaters of old, those were left with all the considerable lanolin of the Shetland sheep breed, and were waterproof. These blankets don't have that much, I think alpaca don't have much and Merino sheep not very much for a sheep breed. Plus it's been washed, obviously, but with a product that leaves some of the lanolin in. This is a good thing for longevity of the product. The sheep-y smell is faint, but it's there, it came from real animals, not petroleum products. It dissipates within a couple of days once it's out of the package. There was even a little bit (very little) of what we call Vegetable Matter which just means tiny bits of hay or other plant material. It's easy to pick out, just do it gently or leave it in. It's another indicator of a real, natural product with many natural benefits. If you want this for camping, it could be a lifesaver, literally. It will insulate if it gets wet. For the home, it's very nice. The binding is soft and a nice finishing touch. The natural colors are beautiful, the thickness is perfect. I've slept so comfortably the week I've had it. It's not too warm for a heated home, it's just right. I"m getting old and I get cold, but haven't had to use the heating pad at all. It is a wonderful gift for anyone, or just a comfort gift for oneself. Kudos to both the seller and to Amazon for making such a fine product widely available.

A truly Excellent Value
This is an outstanding blanket. The alpaca and merino wool blend makes it soft and warm, just what is needed on cold nights. In addition it is a very attractive blanket as well. Other reviewers have commented on the slight odor but it is typical of new wool and dissipates relatively quickly. I cannot recommend it or the company highly enough. Although somewhat expensive, it is worth the price.

All I can say is: WOW!!!
All I can say is: WOW!!! First off, this blanket is 50% sheep wool and 50% alpaca wool. No synthetics. No fabric blend. It's somewhat heavy in weight, but I actually like that. This blanket is sturdy. You can tell it's durable - will last many, many years. It is a very dense, tight weave. It is highly insulating. I felt absolutely zero chill at all last night (the first night I used it on my bed at home), and it was a very cold night here in Pennsylvania in early December. Yet, because it's not made of syntehtic materials, it breathes. I wasn't suffocating, nor did I wake up sweaty at all. It felt super comfortable - it regulates your body temperature. Now it does have a scent. Some Amazon reviews complained about the smell. It isn't an overbearing smell, but is faint. I actually LIKE the smell. It has a faint animal hair scent, like cat hair or dog hair does. It is made from actual real animal fur. It isn't rayon or nylon (which are basically plastic), nor is it cotton (which is basically a plant). It is made from real animal hair. It's not dirty. It does have a faint trace of the smell of animals - but it's supposed to. It's a REAL smell, an authentic earthy smell, like you're sleeping cozy on a traditional Amish farm. It's awesome! I LOVE this blanket and will use it on my bed for many winters to come.

Buy one of these.
This is the BEST blanket you can have EVER. It's warm, but not too hot, AND it breathes too. Soft and not scratchy. Very well made and worth every penny.

Very nice, soft and warm, but not the best deal on Amazon.
If I had bought this before I bought my Alpaca Warehouse 50% Alpaca 50% sheep wool blanket, I probably would have given it 5 stars. It's very heavy, soft, and warm. But the Alpaca Warehouse blanket that is almost identical, weighs 8 ounces more and is 6 inches wider. It's also noticeably softer, and about 30-40 bucks cheaper (depending on if it's on sale or not). They both say 50% Alpaca and 50% sheep wool on them. I bought this blanket because I loved the Alpaca Warehouse one so much I wanted another one. But when I saw that this blanket was supposed to be half Alpaca and half Merino wool, I figured it would be even softer, and more comfortable. But it's not as soft, and nowhere on the label does it say that it's half Merino wool. It just says half Alpaca and half sheep wool, just like the other less expensive, bigger and heavier Alpaca Warehouse blanket I bought before this one. I thought about returning it and getting another Alpaca Warehouse 50% Alpaca, 50% sheep wool blanket, as it's bigger, softer, and more comfortable. But I decided to keep it, for the simple fact that it's a small American business, and the difference in the two isn't so much as to make me want to go through the hastle of returning it. It's still very soft, very warm, and will easily keep 2-3 people completely covered and very warm using it. The two blankets almost look identical, but the Alpaca Warehouse blanket is noticeably softer. So would I recommend this blanket??!! Yes, yes I would. But I'm not going to lie, not having it labeled as having half Merino wool and half Alpaca was disappointing. Every other sock, blanket, jacket, or anything else made from Merino wool was always labeled as such. But even without the label, if it was softer then the Alpaca Warehouse version, I would have given a 5 star review. But because it's not labeled as Merino wool, not as soft as the Alpaca Warehouse version, and because it's also more expensive, it only gets 4 stars. My advice would be to get the Alpaca Warehouse version of this, as it's heavier, wider, cheaper, and softer. But if you can't find it, or they are out of stock, this will do just fine. It's still much softer then most wools, (besides Merino wool) and it will keep you warm and comfortable on those chilly winter nights. It is from an American small business, which I try and support when I can. All in all it's a great wool blanket, and will last several lifetimes with proper care. And like I said, if it was my first choice instead of the Alpaca Warehouse version, I probably would have given it 5 stars. But because I know there's a bigger, softer, and cheaper version on Amazon from another company, and the fact that nowhere on the label says it's made from Merino wool, it only gets 4 stars. Hope this is helpful for you all out there trying to invest in a quality wool blanket.

Beautifully made
This is a beautiful blanket and the size is generous. There is a mild scent that i don't particularly care for, hopefully it will fade after a few days but certainty is not a deal breaker. I feel it will keep me comfortably warm through the night. Seems to be very good quality.

Great quality, warm for cold winters, breathes, your dog will love it.
I live in Colorado and like to sleep with the window open even in the winter, except when it’s -14, but this blanket will keep me warm. It is very good quality, heavy and covers the king bed nicely. I put it on top of the bed covers because the colors are great with my man decor. The problem is keeping the dog off of it. You will keep it for years, depending on your dog, so it is worth the price.
