Highland Park Viking Tribe Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl

So far all the HP's I have tried they have really lived up to expectations and delivered on quality and price point. This HP Viking Tribe is also made to very good quality which has signature HP smoke, vanilla sweetness and slightly salty / malty flavours. Exceptionally smooth although bottled at 46% abv. I was lucky to pick this up on Amazon offer for £22.50 but I would be happy to pay up to £30 for this bottle!

Enjoyed it. Thoughts are.....Appearance:Golden colour, clear, not overly thin but short(ish) legsNose:Vanilla, fudge, hints of oak, light smokiness. Maybe a touch of citrus on the nose. Imagine eating a Caramac on bonfire night.Taste:Sweet vanilla, followed by a hint of citrus and wood. More citrus and vanilla when a drop water is added. Then spices come through - pepper definitely, touch of mixed spice, and then more peat smoke than found on the nose.Finish:Sweetness gives way to pepper and lingering smokiness. Medium length.I enjoyed it. Fairly easy to drink, responds well to a drop of water, interesting but not overly complex or full of depth.46% ABV, official HP bottling, natural colour…One word: Bargain.

I am a fan of Islay whisky's with an Ardeg 10 my favourite in the 'affordable’ tibbles. So basically I love smokey whiskey and was tempted by a prime offer on this Highland park. All these thing are so subjective but I absolutely loved this. It's a 46%er so happy to take a smiggin of water and it then really opens up. Has a real vanilla sweetness to it which is balanced by citrus, spice and smoke. At the offer price it's a steal and really regret only buying one bottle as it's now sold out.

Quite pricey for this whisky but got it on offer and it is nice. It has quite a peaty taste but also a strong taste of pepper and citrus. Its not overwhelming but can taste it for a while after and goes down well on a cold winters evening. The bottle looks quite smart as well, but that is not really a selling point.I would enjoy this as a gift and would probably buy it again but not at full price.

I bought this in the Black Friday sale for £27.99 as I was wanting a smokey whisky to add to my selection and was curious how one would taste like. Overall I am very pleased I bought this. On pouring a shot full in a small glass I could immediately smell from it a very strong and unmistakable vanilla smell. On drinking it, the first taste was vanilla and then a strong smokey aftertaste hits you hard. Not in a bad way. I am not a smoker, and normally hate the smell and taste of smelling smoke from cigarettes but this was a very pleasing taste. Then after this, the lingering taste is a strong smokey taste in the back of your throat that lasts some time (I took the drink 10mins ago then strarted writing this review and can still taste it now).Overall if you are after a smokey whisky this is definitely worth buying. I have Johnny Walker Double Black on route arriving Wednesday from the Cyber Monday deal so will do a Pepsi challenge to see which is best of the two.

This is a peated whisky which I didn't know when I bought it so was disappointed when I opened the top and had a sniff. However, it's perfectly balanced between sweet and smokey and surprisingly good! Really enjoying this dram as it's not something I would usually buy but have had my arm twisted to more smokey whiskies.
