Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Tunes into TV

I've always enjoyed the Bathroom Reader series of books. This one adds my other love, television. So much fascinating information to learn about this medium! I highly recommend this book if you love learning about the origins of things, especially everything related to TV.

Uncle Johns bathroom readers are a mainstay in our house. We received one many years ago as gift and since then have continued to buy them on our own as well to give as gifts to friends. They give hours of enjoyment as well tons of trivia to be the one who finally wins Trivial Pursuit or NTN trivia at the local watering hole. There are many versions of the books which cover a wind range of topics as well they have quite a few kid versions. Some time ago they also added some of the titles to the Kindle reader store. It might seem a bit sophomoric but they really are quite an enjoyable fixture that might just surprise you on how fun yet informative they can be.

I really enjoyed the trivia about the early days of television! Ever heard of the Camel News Caravan, the nightly news show sponsored by Camel cigarettes? Uncle John can teach you. The only regretful aspects are that it was published before many of the relatively recent revelations about Bill Cosby.

This book is great fun for anyone who grew up with TV. Lots of background stories about shows, actors, and the establishment of networks to name a few. Fun facts in an easy-to-read format. I've been a big fan of Uncle John's bathroom Readers since I bought my first one in 1988. Highly recommended to everyone who enjoys TV!

Book was in great condition

Very interesting look at various aspects of TV. Always love Uncle John's Bathroom Readers because they are chock full of interesting stories. If you are a fan of his you will notice some repeats in this and many other books, but still worth the money.The only problem that I had with the book is the article about the history of miniseries. The article was in another Bathroom Reader and while talking about Roots said that Todd Bridges was in it! (Lloyd Bridges was the actor in Roots) The same mistake was in this one as well.

These books are great for trips, waiting rooms, great for the super busy moms that love to read but just don't have time, you can sneak a few pages in from time to time. Not like a book, if you don't read it for several days you forget what you read or the story line. These books are full of tidbits of facts, funny stories, just all sorts of stuff. AND you can choose from all types of subjects. A MUST HAVE BOOK!! OR SEVERAL UJ Bathroom Reader Books!!

This is one of the best Bathroom Reader books I've read, and I've read several. Having a TV theme allows for so many interesting articles about shows, networks, actors, scripts, unsuccessful ideas and shows, advertising, news, soaps, game shows, commercials, history and influence of television, etc. It was all interesting to me. You get a nice variety of eras, from the birth of TV to broadcasting in the 2000's. Lots of fun nostalgia here. There could easily be a sequel to this book. Enjoy!

I could review each of these books that I own, but I'll just summarize it using this one. They're great books. Full of info, useless, enlightening and entertaining. I rarely read them in the bathroom and simply read them wherever I am...and I think you will enjoy these books anywhere, anytime.

very interesting reading

I love TV, and I thought I knew all there was to know about it. Turns out I was wrong! Tunes into TV was a pleasure to read. It's like watching TV; it's for sure the best Uncle John's.
