Amazing book
I served in Fallujah with Chaplain Cash. It’s an honor to read his book reflecting on our collective experience. Highly recommend this book to everyone. Many great life lessons within its pages.

I’m searching myself…..
Well written, interesting and interesting. I’ve read many books on war, in war, and the soldiers/sailors who lived it. This one is from an entirely different viewpoint: someone who walks with God. Loved all the actual references to readings of the Bible. Opened up my mind to such posts

A Table in the Presence
Lieutenant Carey H. Cash's, A Table in the Presence, is an extremely inspirational book and a "must-read" for anybody who is associated with someone in the military. It is a God-centered book about Iraqi solders fighting in the war. Lieutenant Carey H. Cash was a chaplain in the First Battalion, Fifth Regiment, and he traveled throughout Iraq performing different worship services and testifying to men in the Marines. It was amazing how the Marines realized God's presence like they never had before. There were multiple stories throughout the book that will put you in "awe" of God's majestic sovereignty. There was a green-covered Bible that the soldiers depended on for comfort as a sign of God's presence. In the midst of a horrific sandstorm, the green-covered Bible was lost, and the soldiers were devastated. They had no hope in finding the Bible, but the very next morning the Bible appeared alongside the road. It was the miracle the soldiers needed in order to show them that God was indeed by their sides. If you know someone in the military or are in the military yourself, this book will provide you with comfort and security knowing that God is certainly present through all circumstances, and if you trust him, He will provide. Cash has a very clear and descriptive style of writing that shares his life-changing stories and helps you envision the intense war-like situations as if you were right alongside the soldiers on the front-lines in Iraq. The cost of the book is very reasonable and well worth it. A Table in the Presence is an excellent book, and I would strongly suggest it to anybody who wants a firsthand insight on God's amazing hand at work in the military.

Challenging yet necessary
Adm (then LT) Cash’s book retells his first tour. It is similar to military narratives. This one is different however as it is sprinkled in with spiritual testimony and Scripture. It is obviously written to those in the military, and especially useful for current and would be chaplains. Yet even the layman can see how God was working with these Marines during the Iraq War. It is challenging and deals with issues of faith such as loss, grief, and perseverance.

This is where our real hope comes from, God with earnest young men
This book is the encouragement you need if you have grown tired of listening to the Main stream media trash our soldiers, our nation, and our faith in the God of our fathers. The earnestness of these soldiers as they faced their own fallenness and their fears on the edge of going into battle will touch your heart and remind you that the OWS is not the bunch that is on the mind of and in the heart of God. The innocent faith of these young men as they lose and rediscover a special pocket Bible, undamaged after being lost in a wind, rain, and hailstorm and believe it is a sign from God that he will protect them -- these tough marines -- is borne out when the most intense battle of the war is over and they recount their stories of they were spared and comforted and encouraged and kept. Though they lost one much beloved gunnery sargent, and many others were tremendously injured, they knew the voice of the One who came to them and said in the midst of battle 'It's going to be all right. I am with you.' If you are sick of the assaults on our heritage by the Marxist morons who hate God and the righteous, this book is for you. Young men like these are the hope of our nation. Young men like these being drawn into the presence of God in the worst battle in the war, are the reminder to us that God is not done with the United States of America. The earth will be inherited by the meek, and soldiers carrying big guns and fighting to protect the world from evil can indeed be part of 'the meek.' If you are sick of being told that Islam is 'the religion of peace' and instead want to be encouraged that the 'Prince of Peace' was walking in the midst of our soldiers as they moved through a hail of RPG's to take one of Saddam's evil castles, then this is the book for you. And if you need to become acquainted with achaplain with a tender heart, wisdom, love for his men, this is the book for you. Chaplain Cash's love for the military and its strength used in the service of righteousness can wipe away the grime and the garbage that the leftists have tried to cover our military with. This is the antidote. This is the reminder that the God of Israel and His Messiah are at work in the world, and he does take sides, and his side is to hear the cries of all those who trust in him. And he does fight on their side, and there is a right and a wrong and truth and the lie. If you are sickened to death with all the moral relativists in this world blaming us and excusing the truly wicked, this close up view of the goodness of our soldiers and their leaders will be a solid comfort to you. It was to me. I almost felt like Elijah, that I was the only one left, and I myself am old. But what God is doing in our young generation of warriors indicates that He, even more so than John Paul Jones, has just begun to fight. The trust of our soldiers in the Lord in the midst of that terrible battle ended in elation; and each of them had their own personal story of watching impossible things happen.

Free Will in the face of Harms Way ... a look at mans need for spiritual assurance.
For those of us of the Christian faith ... it’s very moving to see God at work in the lives of men in conflict. For those who are not of the faith it can provide and interesting perspective of those in a spiritual crisis. This book would be of great interest to military chaplains and any who work with emergency services.

A "must-read" for any would-be chaplain
This book will open your heart and bring tears to your eyes. As a devoted pacifist, with several generations of armed forces engagement in my family, I've held a very firm position upon the Gulf Wars and the still ongoing engagement in Afghanistan. Despite my Christian faith - and my belief in the power of prayer - to my shame - I have never even considered the work of military chaplains, until now. This book is part of an untold and sadly neglected story; how military chaplains work with and support both believing and still-seeking individuals on a daily basis, irrespective of the prevailing physical and military conditions. Anyone who sees themselves in a present or future "getting-down-and-dirty" role in supporting other people in the lonely places of this life needs to read this book. It lifts the spirit and clears your vision so you can see right into heaven and count upon the promises of God down here on earth. But don't just take my word for it; read it and get your own slice of the action!

God's faithfulness to U.S. Marines in fierce battles
Good read of God's faithfulness in the midst of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Chaplain Lieutenant Cash recounts the events of the attack of Baghdad and the miracles witnessed by the U.S. Marines as they advanced upon the enemy

Amazing
As an ex-British soldier and one who has served and lived in the Middle East I was surprised and impressed with the dedication of this American unit. Most of all I was astounded how God preserved these men and put a hedge around them. This is a must read for Christians every where. The secular media will never report such events. As a young soldier while waiting in a transit camp for my first posting to the Middle East, one returning soldier said to me "There are no athiest on the battle field." We as Christians need to rest assured that what was true for King David can be true for us. Mike

Highly recommended
Although this book is about war it is a lovely gently narrative which speaks of the love, grace and protection by the Lord. The action scenes could not have been thought up by a secular novelist.
