Not quite 5-Stars, but close enough...
I waited until I used every feature to write this review. Thanks to owning a Dodge Product with a 392, I was able to use the jump start function today. Here we go...Of course the first thing I did was charge the unit as directed for 36 hours. No big deal.Next, I used all the charging ports. USB is typically slow, but so were the 110 outlets. But they worked, and they charged my tablet and they all worked. After that, I went out to air up tires on 4 vehicles. It's winter so all 12 were low 3 to 8 pounds. The compressor is slow and takes a while, even for only 5 pounds. But, it worked in "set it & forget it mode" which I stumbled across never having read the directions. Set the compressor for 40psi, hook up the hose, hit the button and it charges to 40psi and turns off. Very nice!!Finally, that Dodge product didn't let me down and the battery died from sitting in the cold as expected. I read the rear directions this time that are stamped on the back of the unit. Easy and straightforward. The batter on a Charger 392 is in the trunk so I set the unit next to the battery, hooked it up, turned the unit on, then crossed my fingers and jumped in the driver's seat. Va-ROOM! She started right up.For $100, you could da a LOT worse and I have. The compressor is the weak part of this unit. It's slow, and when it gets warm, turns off to cool before using again. I'm not sure it could actually air a truck tire up from zero to 40psi. But for topping off, it's perfect and saves you a trip somewhere to do it.

The item will not charge, and cannot be returned.
I bought one of these from Walmart years ago, and it still works. I liked it and bought another from Amazon. This new one arrived unable to take a charge, and CANNOT BE RETURNED. Now I need to figure out how to return it because I am out $100, and it is a paperweight. It simply does not work. I've tried to charge it, as the instructions state. I know how these work because I've been using the same model for years. I will have to find a way to return the one that does not work. It really is too bad. The first one I purchased (from Walmart) was quite good. It's risky because if you get a lemon, returning it will be a bit of a pain.Update: Amazon is helping me with an exchange. If the new one works as well as the one I bought years ago, I will add more stars to the review. I was very happy with the older one.Update: Amazon replaced the item. The new one works as expected. I have taken it on a trip and it worked well. I am happy with the purchase.

Works Great But is Very Heavy UPDATE
Update APRIL 2021: I contacted Schumacher about replacing the hose due to having a hole and not being able to use the compressor and am really disappointed to learn that once the hose goes bad, the compressor can no longer be used and I’d need to purchase a new unit. They also advised me that they won’t even service this because it’s outside of the warranty period. I will not be purchasing another Schumacher product. I’ve used this a handful of times and the compressor is worthless. This is a known issue. I read many reviews on other sites including Schumacher’s and many have posted the same issue with the hose. BUYER BEWAREUPDATE MARCH 19, 2021:I haven’t been driving as much because of Covid. My daughter is homeschooling and I work from home. I’ve been using this product to occasionally jump my car. This week I went to drive my car and had a low air warning come on. I though “no big deal!” I would just use the air compressor feature and put some air in my tire. This was the first time using the air compressor hose. I should have checked EVERYTHING on this product when I first purchased it because the hose has a hole in it and now I’m stuck with a flat tire! The hole is big enough so that it will not fill up my tire. I’m really disappointed that this came to me with a hole in the hose. I’ve only used the battery jump function but will be testing every feature. I’m going to contact the manufacturer to see if they will send me a replacement hose. Test yours before you end up stranded.I purchased this because I went to drive my car the other day after not driving for a month due to having surgery and my battery was dead. Everyone I called was “busy.” I didn’t want to call my emergency road service because they only offer 1 courtesy jump per year. The rest I have to pay for. This worked perfectly. The only thing I didn’t like is that it took 24 hours to charge. So I wasn’t able to just get it out the box and jump my car. Also, it’s REALLY heavy. I had surgery on my shoulder and it was really hard for me to carry this with one arm. The box says it’s 22lbs. I wish it were lighter. I’m going to leave this in my car and only take it out when it needs charging.

Don't Leave Home Without It !
This review is for the SJ 1289. I've owned an older version of this Schumacher power jump starter/ power station. I've bought 2 of this current version too. I really liked the older version, I really LOVE this newer one. As a jump starter, it works great on my minivan and other vehicles. Works great as a tire inflator. Although I've not needed to pump up a completely empty tire using it, it is perfect for checking tires and adding some air or to top up a tire that has a slow leak. And it really shines as a power source, has a 120vac outlet and 12vdc outlet and USB outlet, so you can connect anything to it (up to 400 peak watt limit on the AC outlet). I've used it on camping trips, and road trips, and taken it to outdoor events. But also I've found it useful around the house and yard (bring power anywhere when needed). The unit is bulky and heavy, but that is not an issue for me, it's easy enough to carry. These are built well and will last a long time.
