LEGO Pirates Advent Calendar Set 6299 2009

Ordered this LEGO Pirates Advent Calendar to use as a countdown for a special event. Fun and incentive way to keep motivated while waiting for a special event or counting down until school is over. While writing this order, I am not able to describe the contents as it has not been given as a gift yet, however, with other Christmas themed Advent calendars that we have purchased, it seems to be a great value and toy for year round play. I would not use this Advent calendar as a true Advent calendar counting down the days to Christmas as the pirate theme, to me, does not reflect the Christmas spirit or meaning. Don't get me wrong...I think the set is great, or I would not have ordered it. I am looking forward to the daily opening of the "surprises" to see what items may also be used with current Pirate LEGO sets that are already owned. Thanks for quick shipping!

My husband purchased this (oh, how I hate to call this an "Advent" calendar, as it has absolutely no religious worth and has nothing to do with Christmas, except that it is just a fun way to count down the days until Christmas) for our six-year old daughter. Our daughter absolutely loves it. She has had so much fun with it and couldn't wait everyday to open the next door. If your child loves LEGOS and loves pirates, you can't go wrong with it - unless you actually expect/want/need your Advent calendar to be related to Christmas!! There is even a mermaid in the set, which was a definite plus for my daughter. Many of the pieces are very small, so be sure it is age-appropriate for the child who is receiving it. Actually, this would probably be a great gift for a child whose parent has to go away for a month to work, such as in a military family - it would be a fun way to count down the days until Mommy or Daddy comes back home!

This is the second Lego Advent Calendar we have purchased for our 7 year old boy. Last year we got him the Christmas City one. It was such a hit. He took out the pieces throughout the year and played with them. This year we decided to get the Pirates one. It was an even bigger hit... if that's possible. He love, love loved it. It was the first thing he thought of every morning and was so excited to see what the thing of the day would be. We had several other kids at our house, boys and girls, ranging from 5-10 and they all thought it was so cool and wanted one. This is a GREAT idea by Lego. If your child likes Lego stuff at all, this is a must purchase. The pieces are so cute and easy to put together. This set has a lot of characters in it, about one every third day. It was so much fun for us this year!!! It was very helpful in teaching him the dates and counting.

this set doesn't come with everything that is pictured in the box. In order to creat that you have to buy other set. This becomes a very expensive set for what it is. somehow i find it missleading that a set this price would imply we have to buy another one to have my kids playing. very disapointing and will return it back.

Our grandsons love the Lego Advent calendars. We have given these to them two years in a row (different versions), and they love them. A real unique addition for all LEGO lovers.

Great way to count down days to Christmas. We love it! The little lego figures are great and they meet our expectations.

This Lego set is very expensive as other members have commented on, but the main reason for the price is that this calendar is now quite rare `NEW'. Lego stopped making their `Pirates' range since they started making more `Pirates of the Caribbean' branded products. So Legos' `Pirates' range have now increased in `value'. Brought for Christmas 2012.Money aside the product is great. Underneath each dated window panel is a sealed bag of Lego pieces. On the back of the window is a drawing of what you can make with your bag of Lego. The picture provided above with the product details shows all of the Lego pieces you get.As a note there is a picture in the product details of a shark with a Lego man riding on his back, these two pieces are not part of the calendar, refer to the group picture for a true representation of what you get as that photo is correct.The recipient of the product (a 25 year old) simply loved it and started reminiscing about Lego received at Christmas many years ago. Having a Lego advert calendar is a great alternative to a chocolate one and a lot more fun!

My son loved it, does exactly what it says on the box. A little expensive for what it is but it did keep him quiet!
