What a great little recorder/player. The quality of the recordings are 90% as good as my Sony. Maybe 95%. It does take a little longer to switch on and start recording, though. It has a useful backlight which my Sony doesn't have, but is 10x harder to operate (although both are super easy to record on, which is the most important thing). Once you know how to operate it it's okay, but you will have to put a little effort in. It is worth it, though. It is less than a third of the price of the Sony (which although a Japanese company disappointingly says on the back 'made in china'!). Whether the components are of the same quality and will last, only time will tell. Chinese goods, unless made under licence, are not known for their longevity. I do, however, have some chinese gadgets that are years old, so fingers crossed. Some useful features include record led on/off, equaliser, bit rate selection and voice activated recordings. This last is brilliant as you have the ability to set the activation level and it never cuts off any part of the first word (like the Sony, I think it records a couple of seconds and just keeps overwriting it until it picks up a noise or voice).

As others on here have reported, this recorder is very complicated to use. Sometimes I think I have captured a recording, only to find later that I have nothing. Not tried any external microphones with it as yet, but the internal microphones are of poor quality. I recommend spending a little more on a better device.

Purple Recorder Doesn't Use format for Most standard Media Players. These items are poorly made and fall apart within weeks if used daily, not worth the money spent. What is even more annoying is that the Purple Recorder, for some weird reason records on a different file format and is NOT compatible with most Media Players for playback. More hassle and expense transferring recordings. If you can afford it, buy a more expensive brand, something that is better value for money, because if the buttons don't fall off, the connection will break for the data cable and you can't recover your recordings. You will also need to replace audio jack cable from phone very regularly as these break very easily. You will have to buy another one soon. If your happy to replace unit every couple of months for daily use; knock yourself out! Honestly, anyone leacing a positive review hasn't had the item very long, and yes there is a delay in switching the unit on for call recordings and sometimes the unit will just cut out during calls for no apparatus reason.

Bought this as a Christmas present and he loved it. Its small, light and looks great quality. The recording quality is great also.

Always use this when making a call never getting caught out again.

Ses dimensions (80 * 35 * 10 mm) le rendent bien discret, mais la sensibilité des micros est assez limitée. Les personnes placées à 4 m sont à peine audibles. Le mode d'emploi ? Il faut une loupe pour le lire et exclusivement en anglais.

Not well laid out controls. Not useful for quickly needed recordings. Hard to read the faint display easily. Advise to spend a little more and get a better one.⁸

Veramente prezioso. Batteria eterna, facile da usare, ottima qualità di registrazione (ovviamente per conversazioni). Non è un registratore professionale ma svolge il suo lavoro più che dignitosamente.
