I washed it with soap and water, put it in the freezer for about an hour and then gave it to her hoping for the best - she LOVED it. Very easy for her to hold and use. Not too cold, didn't freeze but stayed cool and gave her a lot of relief. Nicely designed, no toxic taste or smell. Comes with a very convenient clear plastic case so easy to wash and pop in the freezer or diaper bag.
