Outstanding!!
If you’re one who enjoys the “family of deranged cannibals who live in a cave” genre, if that is indeed a genre, you’ll love this one, as it is the very best you’ll find. Masterful piece of writing.

Man oh man
I think I liked off Season just a tiny bit more but offspring is a worthy sequel in every way. If you dug the first one you'll love this one too. I tell you man jack Ketchum does horror in a way I can't get enough of. He writes characters that you care about, and I tore through this book in like two days because I had to know if they survived the new clan of gruesome cannibals started by the surviving member from off season. If you know Jack then you already have an idea but this book Is shocking, it left me tearing up (honestly would have had me sobbing if I didn't force myself to just keep on reading until everything was done) but really wrapped things up well.I loved this one and I highly recommend it to anyone who's read offseason. I'd definitely say start with that one if you haven't read it. But yea man this is some top notch gorey cannibal horror right here.

Great author!!
The book is action packed! A great story and not repetitive like some other authors. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. If you like action, horror then you’ll enjoy the story as I did. I love all of Jack Ketchum books. He never disappoints or is repetitive like some other authors.Enjoy!

Confusing Perspectives
I read this following straight on from Off Season, which I thought was a great story, and well written. Offspring was difficult to read because of the confusing narrative around perspective. Keeping track of who was being referred to, especially during the more chaotic sequences, was difficult, and I found I had to reread pages to reassert my understanding of what was happening, and who it was happening to.The story itself was mostly just a re-imagining of the first novel, Off Season, and while I enjoyed learning more about the perspective of the maniacs it just didn't grab me or feel satisfying.

Guilty as charged
I 'discovered' Jack Ketchum years ago and have read many of his works. Always, they fill me with a grotesque, grisly, i-don't-want-to-look-but-i-have-to sense of revulsion and guilt. But I always enjoy the story and know, at least on some level, that even though we readers are safe and secure behind the printed page (or electronic s screen), that true evil is really out there...and in all of us.Offspring provides a satisfying ending as well as skillfully crafted new questions.Did I yet again enjoy the gore-fest?Guilty as charged.

It was good to give pain and good to receive pain because that was what life was,
I liked this book, not loved but liked. Offspring does not hold the same fear, depravity or carnage as the first book. Yet, it still stands as one of the most disturbing things I've ever read-so far.I liked the characters in this one a bit more than the ones in the first. The inclusion of a sociopath along with this feral family, took the book to another level. The book carries a weight of fear and something truly unsettling. When you really take in just how depraved and evil this clan is, showing no mercy and choosing to inflict maximum amounts of pain, it just sends shivers down your spine.Ketchum doesn't just write the story, he pulls you into it too. Placing you front and center amongst all the bloody violence. You want to look away but you can't, you know you shouldn't be enjoying this but you do. It was another wild, though not as thrilling ride. However, I am still completely invested in this series.

SOOOO Good
First book by this author. The writing was great, not overblown or overly verbose, but effective. For a book that turned out the way it did, it was still believable. I loved it. While I was reading it I realized I had seen the movie The Woman on Fear channel years ago. I'm off to read more books by this author 👍👍👍

A great follow up
An amazing sequel to the terrifying 'Off Season', where a group of cave dwelling cannibals attacked the peaceful residents of Dead River, Maine. It is now eleven years later and things seem to be back to normal. However, it seems that the offspring of the blood thirsty cannibals has somehow survived and are now ready for another gruesome night of blood and violence. A must read, especially if you have read 'Off Season.' Jack Ketchum is the undisputed master of the macabre. Absolutely terrifying.

Great edge of your seat gritty thriller
This was my first read of Mr Ketchum's work and I'm looking forward to reading another novel by him. Be warned, he writes in a gritty r-rated descriptive style which, while, in my opinion, is not excessive or gratuitous, but can be a bit confronting for some readers.

gute fortsetzung
