- Description -I am very disappointed that what I thought I was getting is very much different to what I received.Looking at the product images I thought that this product was a honeycombed material.That’s what I wanted because I intended to use it beneath pots and pans on my portable induction hob whilst cooking. The idea was that if the material was honeycombed there would be air pockets that would reduce the amount of heat transfer from the base of the cookware to the hob glass (thereby lengthening the time before the excessive heat function kicks in and switches the hob off) and also the silicone itself would be subject to a little less heat; the secondary consideration was that perhaps reduced heat on the glass surface would prolong the life of the electronics underneath.Instead the structure of this product is a honeycomb sandwich; working from top to bottom there are three layers, a honeycomb layer, a solid layer in the middle, and then another honeycomb layer. So in practice this is a solid piece of silicone as you cannot see through it.For this reason I have awarded just four stars as I think the description of the product isn’t detailed enough.- Use on Induction Hob -I think because of its thickness, it doesn’t work entirely satisfactorily on an induction hob.With pans with a base diameter the same as or greater than these mats I found that this combination was successful; the use of smaller cookware resulted in my induction hob not recognising the existence of any cookware and therefore not activating.I suspect the reason for this is that these mats are very thick. So the pans are raised quite high off of the surface of the hob; larger pans create a stronger electromagnetic reaction and therefore the height isn’t a problem whereas for smaller pans there is a need for them to be closer to the surface of the hob and preferably in contact with it.- Heat Resistance -I found this to be very satisfying. In fact I would go as far as saying that if you are using these mats for their intended purpose (to protect surfaces from hot cookware) I would be amazed if there was any cookware in a domestic setting that was too hot for these mats.Whilst I am disappointed that these mats aren’t entirely what I expected nor are they entirely successful when put to use for induction hob cooking, I will be keeping them because they clearly work for their intended purpose (and the honeycomb pattern is more attractive than the “plain vanilla” smooth surface variety one often sees.

Overall it does the job... i bought it because my stovetop doesn’t tell you if a plate is hot or not when you turn the heat off... i tried to put it on right away but the smell was awful and i had to throw one but if you just want to cover it without the surface being extremely hot then it’s fine

Pleased with the product, easy to clean and blend in with the work tops. One got stuck to the bottom of a tray and ended up in the oven, when I took it out of the oven it was still as good as new " phew " Thank you

Saw these whilst browsing & thought they would be useful in my kitchen. Under paper towel holder, under water filter jug, under electric kettle etc. No more scuff marks & also heat resistant. Great buy.

In this case, unlike Poirot’s, they do more harm than good, tiny honeycomb cells collect any tiny spill of food and are a nightmare to clean.Also weirdly slippy, so they work as trivets but not as pot grippers as they keep sliding off. I thought I was being clever by buying these as dual purpose trivets and oven ‘gloves’ but they are terrible for the latter.

Love these, easy to clean. Nice colour matches my kitchen and good heat resistance. I put red hot pans straight from hob and they are fine.

The silicone mats are easy to store. Easy to clean. You can even double them up for extra heat resistance.

Light but durable. Using them as heat mats and something to protect my new kitchen work surfaces from potential damage from awkward items
