Q: Is the latch weatherproof?

These are the low cost simple latches that older RV's had, not water proof that I can tell, however I have them on my older RV and I am not getting water inside, but if I sprayed them direct I think water would get inside.

Q: How do I measure to know what size I need? Am I measuring the key hole? Or the bolt on the back? Also, if I am making a new hole does it matter?

Measure the hole it will be going into. It should be 7/8” diameter which will correspond to the diameter of the threaded portion of this latch. This is the size a most RV latches. If you’re drilling a new hole you’d drill a 7/8” hole into whatever your installing it on. Be sure if you do that you account for where the latch part will catch when you close whatever door you’re putting it on.

Q: What is the length of the latch from center hole to end?

I believe 2.5" there is a straight blade and a slightly bent blade that comes in the package.
