Old school lamp is a great value
Yeah, it’s the same type of lamp that been made since, I don’t know, the 70’s. . . ? Nothing fancy and time proven design provides good light coverage on the desk. No issues with the construction and overall quality. With LED or CFL bulb the lamp head doesn’t get hot like they used to with incandescent bulbs. A very good value at under $20.

A perfect work desk lamp
I had worries that it's not sturdy enough, you know, nowadays most products have an "optimized" mount mechanism but this one works unexpectedly well as my every day desk lamp. I have 150cm desk and it's mounted on the far left side and it works well for me sitting at the right side of the desk. I have to say that I type, not write. For writing you may want to mount it closer.

strong base
This is the third or fourth lamp like it I have owned. The weak point has always been the plastic socket used at the base by the others. If you move the lamp around during the day on a regular basis, the plastic weakens and the lamp needs to be replaced. This version used a pressed and formed steel socket and base and is aging well. All in all a great value for the money.

Don't be deceived by the price
Before owning this, I have tried several LED lamps with adjustable neck and dimmable brightness. They were 3-4 times more expensive, however they were not very impressive, with a certain design flaws and QC issues that I had them returned. Then I started looking into buying just a cheaper swing arm lamp with an LED bulb.On receiving this unit, I was surprised by its construction, it's very solid, and the switch is way user-friendlier than I expected. Using an A19 (or A60) LED bulb of 12W it's now super bright. To make it dimmer I just point it to shoot at the wall, and the reflected light is just alright for reading in my office. The traditional design using two springs to keep the orientation of the lamp is great, making it fully customizable as well holding its position without any sliding. The whole set totalled just around $40 with the bulb, and I am totally satisfied. Finally, I have to leave the cons, but it's rather related to the bulb, in which the same won't happen for dedicated LED lamps (those cost more). My bulb has a small issue of flickering, shaking a pen laterally under it I can see multiple shapes, which is a sign of not high enough PWM frequency. If you are serious about this, and also want to build your own LED lamp using this swing arm lamp, you may need to pay some attention when picking the bulb.
