Will this fit well over a 5 gallon bucket as a lid

I tested it with a 5 gallon bucket from Walmart and it does fit. You have to push down a bit, but it goes in tight. The rim mostly matches the rim of the bucket so it doesn't block the bucket handle. There will be a gap where the basin curves inward at the washboard part so it is not a complete seal.

would this fit in a bathroom sink?

It won't fit inside a typical bathroom sink but it may be able to rest in the sink under the faucet depending on the shape and size of the sink.

I don’t know. This size just fits perfectly into my bathroom sink. I love it.
