Q: some moth balls have the same active ingredient as this. Couldn't you use them? They are 1/10 the cost.

Active ingredients might be the same, but some of the inactive ingredients might not be approved for use in bee hives. I'd be cautious if the ingredients we not all exactly identical. If it's for your personal hive(s) and you're not selling the honey, I'd say go for the cheapest. I sell my honey so I only use products approved for in hive use. I can vouch for this product though, it works very well. I've treated 16 deep bodies and over 20 supers using the product and it's well worth the money. I'd recommend the smallest tub they have, the big pail goes a LONG way. My method is to stack 2 deeps or 4 supers using some old political sign plastic sheets between them and use a lid from a cream cheese tub (about 3" diameter and 1/4" deep) and pile about 2 tablespoons of crystals in it. Keeps everything bug free for most of the storage season.
