Wholesome food. Worth the extra money.
You definitely get what you pay for. This dog food is worth the money and my dogs enjoy it. Look at the real, whole-food ingredients listed on the bag and it is air-dried to preserve nutrients. The other big name brands' kibble is full of rendered animals that sit outside for weeks in the elements (hooves, fur and all), ground up and baked at extremely high temperatures and then filled with byproducts/fillers like rice, corn, wheat and meal. Then to make it all "healthy", they add in synthetic vitamins and spray it with flavor to make it more appetizing. Watch Pet Fooled documentary if you would like to know what you are really feeding your dog. That is why so many of the dogs who eat kibble seem to have chronic vomiting and diarrhea, allergies, skin issues, as well as more serious conditions. There is very little oversight in dog food and AAFCO only provides "standards" and "guidelines" to which no one ever enforces. I am passionate about dog nutrition and have done tons of research, taken dog nutrition courses and I cook my own dog food. When I don't cook my own dog food, my dogs get to eat Badland's Ranch and a few other carefully selected brands. I believe that wholesome food saves us money in vet visits since my dogs stay healthy and only ever have to see the vet for their annual checkups.

SPIKE APPROVED!! đž
Wow, my lil guy Spike LOVES this food! Yes it's expensive, but that's the price we pay for Super High Quality Food or Anything for that matter. So I use it as a mixer for his regular food that I cook for him. Spike is VERY picky and doesn't like vegetables or fruits so this is perfect for him as it's loaded with so many nutrients, and it makes me happier to know he's getting all the vitamins he needs so much. He likes it so much that he tears up his regular food along with it, usually he leaves a little bit behind like the carrots and barley, but with this super food, it has him licking the bowl clean! Very satisfied and highly recommend!

The best dog food around, but much too expensive to use for every meal.
My dogs absolutely LOVE this dog food. So much that I use it to train! However, I have only been able to use it as a topper because it is so ridiculously expensive. Purina Pro Plan is $3.23 per pound, and the very cheapest you can buy Badlands in $26 per pound. Whoa. If you can afford it, this is the best food around, for the rest of us, it can be an amazing treat.

Happy & healthy
Healthy food is wonderful for my best friend! I add a little water to soften the edges. Maybe it can be processed with rounded edges as long as it doesnât take away from the good stuff that it is. Thank you Catherine for taking the time and effort to create a healthy food for dogs.

Not affordable at all if you actually want your dog to eat this as dog food long-term
I bought a bag on Amazon which the dogs liked and I wanted to actually get a subscription on their website instead to keep feeding this to my dogs, but this was my disappointing experience: It seems like Katherine Hegel doesnât care about making this dog food, easily accessible considering this dog food is NOT affordable for an average personâThe misleading promotions, terrible customer service, confusing subscription options, and astronomical pricing have completely turned me off.Not to mention the reviews online mirror, the exact experience I had as a first time potential customer today and its evident that nothing has changed since she started this company a few years ago. Now Iâm spending my time writing this ridiculous review instead of purchasing healthy food for my dogs, that should tell you something. SAD just SAD.As soon as I entered the website, I encountered a âspin the wheelâ promotion that promised an unbelievable offer for my first purchase. Naturally, I spun the wheel, only to have the offer vanish without any explanation. This gimmick left me confused calling customer service for answers. My first call ended abruptly when the representative simply stopped talking mid-conversation. I called back, and the next rep was downright rudeâinsisting on my shipping and billing addresses (even though I hadnât placed an order) just to explain why the promotion disappeared. She even warned that providing my billing address would get her in trouble before hanging up on me.After two exasperating hours and multiple calls, I finally spoke with a courteous representative who explained their subscription pricing in detail. Thatâs when I discovered that feeding my two dogs would cost about $300 a month. Their subscription model is baffling: you can only purchase bundles of 1, 3 or 6 bags, with discounts only applied to those specific bundles. For my needsârequiring 10-12 bags a monthâthe available options are not only impractical but also incredibly expensive. To add insult to injury, the bag sizes are ridiculously small. Each bag contains only 24 ouncesâroughly the size of a treat bagâwhich is far too little for regular feeding. While a 64-ounce option is available on Amazon, it isnât offered on their website or through the subscription service. Amazon prices are actually more expensive in comparison to their astronomical subscription prices.Ultimately, while the dog food itself may be nutritionally sound, the overall experienceâfrom the misleading promotions to the unhelpful customer service and convoluted pricing structureâhas left me with no desire to continue as a customer. I expected a brand backed by Katherine Heiglâs advocacy to care about its customers, but based on my experience today (and the echo of similar reviews), itâs clear that this isnât the case. Also, please consider that your customer service reps do not seem very happy. I spoke to five different reps today, including a supervisor who made it pretty clear that they have no autonomy to make customers happy.

Not as Advertised This Time
I have been using the beef flavored product for several months now and my dog loves it. However, my third auto ship from Amazon was a disappointment. This company advertised as air dried, all natural ingredients and I pay $105 for a 64 Oz bag. I loved that the pieces were soft and fresh, pliable enough to crumble between my fingers to use as a topper on my dogâs food. The last bag I received had freeze dried Peterâs as hard as gravel. Did not spell the same either; extremely disappointing.
