I tried to record a conversation between me and another person sitting at a coffee table inside my house - very quite. The tape recorder was only two feet away, yet was barely able pick up anything using the internal mike. The external mike provided performed only marginally better, however; the resulting recoding was not suitable for use. I was using external power supply and brand new cassette tapes. The unit simply is an usable.

It works well, could have a louder volume.

The deck plays tapes too fast and you have to hold down the play button very hard to get it to do it right. It very poorly picks up audio and recording using line in from an external device sounds horrible. I asssume it was poorly assembled, tapes don't sound right at all when played and any tinkering is really hard to do.

The noise emanating from the spinning reels is so loud, it blocks out the recording. Not worth a single cent.
